.024" aluminum checkerplate source?
Wondering if anyone knows a local source for .024" aluminium anodized checkerplate? In 4x8 sheets?
The really thin stuff for cosmetic use... About 1/32" thick
My usual sources have the usual thicker 1/8" range stuff, But that's too heavy and costly for the application...

We've both looked at the vinyls, but haven't found one that looked even close to right...

I've never seen checkerplate that thin before. I think the thinnest was 1/16". Even that was just paper that you can very easily bend with your hands. You can find alum that thin; but it wont be checkerplate.
Would 1/16" not work?
What is this going to be used for anyway? Id offer some suggestions; but without having any vague idea of what the project is I really cant help.

it's a dual request...
One is a customer request for me- he's got a wayne dalton 6100 door (composite (aka cardboard) back) - that he's already beating up... So wanting something relatively light to face the inside with to give a bit more substance than the paper offers, for those occasional rubs...
I'm hunting for something - so I can get that similar look in the garage without spending a fortune... Planning to chase down some old basic builder grade cabinets - then skin the doors in it to get the same kind of look... (yes I have a shear/brake)

Hmmm... Yeah I think some 1/16 checkerplate would work great for both. Call Calgary Metal. Back when I was doing shear & break work I think they were our supplier, either them or Federal metals. If they dont have it then I can call my old boss and ask, but Im sure both should have it in a variety of sizes.
I may be mistaken but I dont think you can get alum checker plate any thinner then 1/16 unless its special ordered. Even that stuff is so thin that (like I say) it should work great for both applications.

Unfortunately can't put 1/16" on the door - at least not within reason... Adding 130+lbs to the door would overload the rollers, track and cause some fitment issues for springs... Needs to come in closer to 60lbs to make things workable...

If you had some pics of what you're doing I can help make some suggestions. Im kind of blind as to what you need here.

Try Ryerson, they specialize in Stainless and aluminum alloys, or you can try ASA alloys, I think out of Edmonton, they are the 2 suppliers I use.
