Default Stock Jeep srt8-> diablo comparisons.

I bought the diablo trinity tuner and threw it in this morning. Neat display, but can't say I am really impressed with the tune canned tunes on it.
I brought the jeep up to temperature, till all temps leveled out and did 3 runs. The only pause was the time it takes to load the new canned tunes, about 2 minutes or so.
First run and best is stock pcm
2nd run is Diablo 91 oct tune.
3rd is Diablo 93 oct tune.
Next I am going to unplug the diablo and let the dyno log all the obd and see what exactly the diablo is changing to lose power.
Anyone ever try their mod maps before and after like the CAI 93 and actually see a difference?

    you should try this tuner:
    http://www.diablewtune.com/
he uses diablo software for tuning.
you email him logs and he sends a tune back to the programmer.
its very easy to do, and he's a great guy
i did it on my old trailblazer SS.
it was a noticeable difference i thought

There is a guy who is Jeep specific that does it to that is on some of the forums, but nobody every posts dyno sheets , its just anecdotal seat of the pants feedback for the most part. The seat of the pants dyno can be deceiving, if the tune puts a torque dip in the powerband then pulls out of it, it feels like an increase in power to most people..
Its interesting playing with this vehicle, most people so far say the stock parts make the best power on it.

    Welcome to "programmers" lol.

I have no idea how they achieve their "advertised gains". No matter the brand, the vehicle, etc. at no time have I seen even close to claims...

er, well in Gas. Boosted Diesel is a different game. They make huge gains, though still not "afvertised"

If you pull the "original" back up, and the "last tune written" files, I can tell you exactly what they changed.

Usually, they pull a bit of fuel, and a a couple degrees timing, and play with the electronic throttle so it FEELS more powerful at part throttle.

As the intake heat soaks, those things pull a lot of timing. On the 5.7 Hemis I always pull the engine cover, and go colder thermostat.

BTW.... its a NA gas V8. Get the AF anywhere from 12.5 to 13.2 and get the timing on the Hemi to 22 to 26, and that's it.

No magic in the world is gonna get you 30 hp. if that shit is close. I friggin HATE when I get guys that plug these things in, don't get the result they hoped for or were "sold" on, and then expect some sort of witch craft to bring the power up lol.

The factory tunes can dip into the low 11's/high 10's for AF if the Cat overtemp protection kicks in.... it's a "modeled" value, not directly measured....

I am thinking I will yank it and put in my diesel actually.. Then maybe when I buy the supercharger kit for it, I will bother with the programming kit...
Currently my truck exceeds the maximum axle weight for the dyno so I wont be able to test it to see what it does on the cummins.

Lose 10% of the weight off that elephant (over 5,000 pounds) and there you have what... about 50hp? I really like the vehicle, so no hate here.

Figured I'd bump this opposed to starting a new thread as I have a custom tune from a well known tuner in the US who is frequently recommended and used by the WK1 platform. The last I heard was that Toma only had an RWD/FWD dyno, who should I go to, to get an AWD dyno and custom tune locally for the 6.1 Hemi?

put your jeep in rwd mode and call it a day to get tuned....... any other questions shoot me a message

if you have a wideband and a diablo trinity, use the trinity to log everything and then email the logs to your tuner
