Huh. On our Dodge Journey we have 2, 1 constant power and 1 ignition, but I thought that was just because it was a minivan.
Yeap.Originally posted by tentacles

If I am not mistaken, the First gen X5 has a constant 12v as well.
Just looking for ideas on running wires and termination point etc. I know all cars are different...again just something for ideas/reference.

Not just older Vehicles, in my 2012 mustang it only has 2 always hot 12v recepticles with no easy way to change them.Originally posted by Thaco

but it was a breeze to tap into the fuse box and get a switched 12v source and put a new recepticle in up under the dash.
i know, i was just providing an example... most cars have both now.Originally posted by Crazyjoker77

On my Jeep there is a fuse that can go in two different positions that shares a common middle pin, that in position 1-2 is constant and in pin 2-3 is switched. Something worth looking for in your fuse box.Originally posted by Crazyjoker77

Nice, I ordered mine a few days after you Cos. So hopefully mine will be turning up shortly here as well. That is crazy fast shipping time.
For $60 bucks looks like it was money well spent.
I have a feeling you don't want the IR LED's on or you would just get a huge glaring reflection of the IR's from your windshield... curious to see if they work as intended.

yeah, you'll probably want a 16gb card minumum if you want to use high quality settings.Originally posted by Cos
Well my 2gb card fills up faster than I would like so I dont have anything left from this morning. However I got good video on the way home. Note that once I got home I fixed up the mount a bit better so the position it is in isnt what the video took.
I think I am going to double sided tape it to my mirror once I get used to it.

Like I posted in the other thread, you don't need tape, just rubbing alcohol on the surfaces. Mine have stayed on for months now with no issues.

Please fix.
Thank you.
They "work" but you will never need them because your car has headlights which put out much more light, IR and visible, than those little LEDs will anyway.Originally posted by v2kai

The idea for IR LEDs on camras comes from those security camras for houses, it's so that they can still film without using visible light that people would notice. Military night vision goggles have a similar thing. There is zero reason to have it on a car dashcam unless you like driving around in pitch black without headlights.
