Nonsense. You've all got slanty eyes, play Starcraft, speak Chinese and eat nothing but sushi and ginger beef.
DON'T TRY AND CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE

Dino, do you have any idea if it is coming from the North? Or is it more likely to come from the South? I want to hedge my bets here
LOL
thanks
It will come from the south likely. Longest runway makes the most sense.
I assumed that all planes landing come from the south. I live in the deep SW and I always see planes coming from the north towards towards the south then turning and heading back towards the airport to land. I cant think of any other reason why they would come down south to turn around if they could just land coming from the north.
The come from NW through the beddington valley as well.
This plane is awesome!

^ damn! Oh well I will just have to go check it out after work Monday. Hopefully it doesn't change again!

The longest runway is the one that runs north south.
The direction the plane comes in will have a lot to do with wind speed and direction.
Aircraft try to take off and land into the wind as much as possible.
Planes land in all different directions (available runways) depending on where the wind is coming from.Originally posted by leftwing

20:30 could be a touch on the dark side...even after the time change, but I might try to make it up there anyway.
Any word on when it's scheduled to depart, and what it's doing here?

i remember when i was in school at SAIT aero, an AN-124 was taking off and we didn't even do schoolwork, just watched this thing the whole time taxi, lineup, took forever to rotate and when it did it was amazing - like a fat pig trying to hustle up some stairs, but this being the 225, the only one in existence and largest/most powerful (imagine the noise of those 6 engines at 100%) aircraft ever made, i imagine it would probably take even longer, pretty much once in a lifetime chance to watch in our city.
So.. Whats it carrying

It requires 11'500 feet of runway fully loaded, our longest is 12'675 apparently...that's gonna be a tight squeeze(in aviation terms) :P

I thought this same plane landed in calgary several years ago to pick up two shallow well drilling rigs from foremost.

Amazing plane, it was developed to carry the Russian Buran space shuttle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buran_(spacecraft)
Bought not built!
This is not antonov related, but! A Cargolux Boeing 747-800F is coming into calgary this morning. Scheduled to land around 9:50am. I will be up there to check it out.
War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.
I think I will have to go take a look at the landing or take-off. I suppose it would be coming in on 16 or 34.
