    Unhappy JDM yellow bulbs

So this has been bothering me for a while now... So I ordered some Nokya JDM yellow bulbs and i'm wondering why does the colour of the output make them illegal? I know they aren't DOT certified but shouldn't it be fine if it's aimed properly? Vehicle is 2006 Toyota Sienna bulbs will be for DRLs.

I have been running those in my fogs for years, but in headlights it is illegal.

I just don't know why colour headlight bulbs are illegal.

All of the answers the OP is looking for can be had at this link - in short, white only for the head lights including no tinting of any kind. Fogs can have amber or white, maximum of two fogs or two driving lights and very specific locations for each. Front turn signals - amber only, that means running the blue lights, etc could very well attract attention from the police. All of the information held within the Vehicle Equipment Regulation of the Alberta Traffic Safety Act at the link supplied above is quite easy to read and comprehend - to argue against a ticket one might get because of running afoul of these regulations would be probably be quite futile.

More info here and more specifically for DRL's - here.

Now for those of you with some time to kill, the often referenced to SAE guidelines can be had here with more lighting specific stuff here so, so much information to ponder.

Edit - the SAE info is protected, but you should be able to dig it up somewhere.

So according to this DRL`s can be yellow to white or white to yellow... So according to this JDM yellow DRL`s are legal. (45) A daytime running lamp shall be white, yellow or white to yellow, in accordance with sections 3.1.3, 3.1.2 or 3.1.3.1, respectively, of SAE Standard J578, Color Specification (May 1988).

Should I print that off and show it to the cop that tries to ticket me?

    Taco's use yellow DTRL's.

I doubt you'd ever get a ticket for yellow DTRL's. However if your DTRL's are highbeam on a series circuit your headlights will be yellow as well, which is a no no.

I run yellow highbeam DTRL's. I bought my truck with it and I like the look of it for now. My low beam is projector HID though.

Well it is a 2006 Sienna the low beams and the high beams are separate from each other so two 9006 for low beams and two 9005 for DRLs so I guess it is legal! Now I can't wait for my nokya's!
