Recommend a good dermatologist in the south

Hey guys, just wondering if anybody knows of a good dermatologist in the south. I live fairly close to DouglasDale. Anywhere in the south is good, asides from the Forest Lawn area. I will not see anybody in or near that ghetto, I dont care how good they are. (I dont get too excited towards seeing an excellent dermatologist while having my wheels stolen)
Westhills, Bonaventure (etc) is fine with me.


Basically I just have viciously dry skin around my face & scalp. Its so dry its red and (mildly) flaking. After two people today commenting on it; I think its time to see somebody. I thought it was a winter thing; but no its year round dryness; thats been going on for a couple years now. The moisturizing creams really aren't doing anything as I've tried a fair share of them and still no luck. I dont know if I have some weird skin condition or WTF is going on, but Im just looking for a solution that works.

I think you have to see a doctor to get a referral if i'm not mistaken. I had to see one and basically it's a 5 month wait.

I wanted to see a dermatologist but was deterred by the referral time that it would take. So, instead I went to a dermatologist that also does botox injections (I felt I could use a little touch up). I went in for a consult on the botox, spoke directly with the Dr which is a dermatologist and she took me on as a dermatology patient and botox. No referral, no waiting. She solved my dermatological issues and is doing the upkeep on the little bit of botox too. Kills two birds with one stone. She is off McLeod and Southland. Shoot me a PM if you want her name and wanna go down that route.

yup, waiting time sucks for sure. my wife got a referral last september because she has some rashes due to pregnancy. baby was born last october and she just saw the dermatologist last month when the rashes are all gone.

I'm having exactly the same problem, I went to see my family doctor in January for a referral. I will see the dermatologist in June

This is why I hate some aspects of the health care system. All the hoops you have to jump through when you have a serious concern. Oh sure, just take time off work to have a doctor confirm what you already know so you can see a specialist !!

No referrals needed, and it's covered by Alberta Health. They did make me pay to botox my balls though, but now they're as smooth as an egg!

Wait times are not a problem.

We wanted to take my daughter to the dermatologist to look at some discoloration on her leg...

Original wait time was 6 months, but by calling in once a week asking about cancellations I reduced the wait time to 6 weeks and another call the following week to a 4 week wait time.

We saw Dr Stewart Adams (Adam Stewart?), but he's at Market Mall.


You may have something like seborrhea, or one of it's variations (it's a form of psoriasis). Google it.

That sounds like an awesome idea... maybe I might cut my nutsack less when shaving (it allows me to swim faster).
