    Default 2012 Malaysian GP

Practice starts at 8pm tonight. Race is 2am on Sunday.

Massa has a new chassis, claiming that the old one didn't feel like testing. T-minus 19 races before he's canned.

DRS zone hasn't changed from last race.

Pirelli bringing Hard and Medium tires, assuming that the heat is going to cause heavy degradation. A few millimeters of rain is expected on Saturday and Sunday.

    hmmmmm

I am surprised that they don't have a double DRS zone at this track.. one coming off turn 14... mind you it might be pointless to have the second one, since if you passed someone in the first DRS zone, you would get passed yourself during the second DRS zone....

If they had two zones, one detection point it'd be a ridiculous advantage if you could pass during the first zone because you'd still get DRS for the 2nd zone. In Australia the 2nd zone is much shorter so the advantage, IMO, isn't as great. If they had two detection points then, yeah, you'd just be passed back.

Typing it out though, I'm sure there's a more legitimate reason than what I just said.

Raikonnen's trip into the grass in Australia overheated the gearbox and requires replacement before FP3. So he gets a 5 spot grid penalty. Not a very good start to the year

Damn, not a good start to the year for him at all. I was hoping he would do well and get offered Massa's spot next year lol.

Hamilton leading the timesheets in P1 and P2. McLaren is looking good for this race, so is Mercedes. McLaren has good race and quali pace, Mercedes has good quali pace but suffering tire degradation on their long runs, and Red Bull is opposite, close to McLaren on their long runs, but suffering in single lap performance.

Looking forward to annoying my gf with my Rocket Red jersey on Sunday!

Hamilton's making sure the car is 100% for Malaysia. He's not putting up with 3rd place again, haha. Button complained about low fuel runs so maybe that's what Hamilton is testing.

Either way, I'm stoked for Sunday.

Well that was an interesting qualifying session... I wonder if Vettel will have any advantage of qualifying on the Hard vs. the Soft. And he was only .4 off the qualifying time.

Should be a very very interesting race tomorrow!

Both Hamilton and button had sloppy laps and still 1-2. Hope it translates into race pace again.

Well based on Vettel's performance last race, hes pretty much in the same position. So long as he can duck in for a tire change via safety car, he should have a solid #2 finish! Go Vettel!

    LOOOOOOOOOLOLOLOL

Vettel says his prime tires are because he was running faster on them, not just for strategy. We'll see.

Massa says he's now happy with the car. Which is hilarious. Either he says he's happy with the car and is just a shitty driver (I don't care what Coulthard says, 4 tenths back of Alonso in qualifying isn't respectable) or he says he's still not happy and is forced to admit that he's just a shitty driver.

Is the dirty side of the track actually that dirty in Sepang? I can't imagine there being a whole lot of debris half way down a straight.

Watching on tsn again and finding the live timing is less accurate than last time.

What a race. Can't believe Alonso dragged that POS Ferrari to a win haha.

Beaner in 2nd place, almost won it.

McLaren once again pisses me off. Shitty pitstop for Hamilton lost him the lead. I called for the dry tires for at least 6 laps, would've gotten out in front if he pitted first for dries. Instead, they keep him out for 2 extra laps on Alonso, 1 extra lap on Perez, and drops him 15 seconds behind everyone. So frustrating watching that shit.

Best part of that race was Speed's "MASSAVELY SCREWEDERIA" bit.

I watched the race twice, first on tsn live then the replay on speed today. Speed had some pretty funny announcers comments this race. Preferred speeds commentators but tsn had better coverage this time
