idk why you guys are having probs, it's imgur hosted, probably the most liberal and trusted pic hosting around, maybe cause its so badly faked and resolution is whack? doesnt matter cause its shopped anyways
The first two entries are real though.
Some people are complete morons for blaming Nenshi for the bridge. So many Nenshi haters bring so much ignorance.
Here are the facts.
- Funded from a $2.1 BILLION dollar municipal sustainability initiative fund from the PROVINCE to improve public urban transportation. (The bridge used 0.1% of the fund).
- Bronco was the mayor when the bridge was designed and tendered.
- The bridge cost $25 million and a fixed price was negotiated with the contractor. They are the ones eating any cost overruns.
- The bridge was built for less (per meter) than other pedestrian bridges in Winnipeg and Edmonton.
So why all the hate?
Did not know that. Thanks sput.Originally posted by sputnik

Only the first two posts are real.
Because the bridge is about ten feet away from the 10th ave bridge which works just fine. What the city needs is more arteries in and out of downtown for cars not pedestrians. I live in downtown and don’t see any reason for this bridge. I’d rather them have spent 25 million on some artistic monolith structure that at least would look cool and be a landmark than something so redundant as this bridge.Originally posted by sputnik

Not to mention do we not have the or close to the longest amount of park pathways in North America already?Originally posted by BigMass

As my previous statements have been... Calgary is becoming too rich for it's own good.
Agreed. I used to live in Kensington, and this bridge plain makes no sense. You either have to cross and go to 10th to cross Memorial, or backtrack on Memorial. Either way it's retarded.Originally posted by BigMass

I may have been, however, one of the first to piss on it.
It's only redundant because your primary mode of transportation is a car. Sure it may seem close if you are driving, but if you are walking on the pathways having the Peace bridge add to the pedestrian infrastructure is a positive thing and cuts down on travel time and will be utilized by residents of all the future projects right in that area.Originally posted by BigMass

Ride your bike across any of the other crossings in summer rush hour and tell me we don't need it.
Thank god we finally have a bridge wide enough that you don't have bikes running down dogs and kids.
My opinion is that of someone that lives in downtown and walks to Kensington often. I mean w/e it’s not something I even think about or take it personally. It’s just whenever I walk by and see it then see the 10th bridge I’m like lol what’s the point.Originally posted by kenny
