AT momo shift knob?

I bought this shift knob

and I brought it home at dosent fit..I read on some of the galant forums that I have to cut some of the white plastic piece on the shifter but im kinda freaked out cause if i cut to much im screwed anyone have any info on this?!?

Hard to say, I would call the manufacturer before doing anything to breach my warranty, because then your screwed either way.
