LOL I hope you didn't get in trouble posting the shop. I assumed the car wouldn't be spending more than a day there.Originally posted by cam_wmh

Rage can you PM me in regards to the shop and how much they charge (if you know) for the basic front end package? I am looking to get the bumper/hood 3M'ed on the C350. Thanks.
Don't do it man.. I've not yet seen a single white car where the 3M looked good after it was weathered. It always yellows and renders it a completely different shade of white. I am very glad the previous owner didn't 3M his car, and I have absolutely no plans to either.Originally posted by shakalaka

I did my white 63 with the avian? product from the guy that did Max's NSX. 3 years coming up and still unnoticeable unless you are up real close but I rarely park in the sun all day long and I always wash my car. However, it is inevitable that it will yellow over time and when it does I will just redo it.
Did full bumper, 12" up the hood, side mirrors, fogs, rear quarter panels right behind the wheels and wrapped around the hood for $7xx. Great service too dropped off and picked me up at the train station.
True I see a lot of cars that put on cheap, mostly dealer thrown in incentive stuff, that discolours and looks worse than a few rock chips.

My last car and current car is white and you cannot see the 3M. Both cars used for multiple snowboard trips through the winter. You just need quality paint protection and clean your car regularly, of course.Originally posted by clem24

That's what I've been debating about ever since I got it. I was gonnna get it done at the same time as the tint, but then decided to hold off. That's exactly my worry since the car is white.
But since I do a lot of highway driving, I keep hearing sand or what not hitting the car, when I am overtaking trucks and that makes me cringe! Already saw a few minor chips on the bumper and that really pisses me off....
Would be nice to know what shop it is first though, no?Originally posted by Chester

The cheaper films will yellow faster than the better ones. If you're in the sun more, it'll yellow faster. Only noticable on the white and silver cars.
Realistically, you should be removing the film and redoing it every 5-6 years, depending on the amount of sun exposure because it hardens the glue that's used to apply it. If you google it up, you'll find that some people damage the clear coat when removing 10 year old film. Some of the manufacturers have huge warranties on yellowing. I believe xpel (what I use) has a 7 year warranty on yellowing. If it yellows, you get new film, and pay labour for reinstall. Check with the shops on the warranties.

Some people are dumb enough to use carnuba wax on their 3M cars as well, lol.Originally posted by rage2

Clear bra is so easy to take care of. Rinse with water, wash mitt, rinse with water. Dry with the softest lint free cloth you can find. Done!

Give Travis at Car Cosmetix Inc. a call
He does it out of his home in Copperfield. Really good guy, great work, amazing pricing. Myself, G, 4doorj and others have had great experiences with Travis. He did the work on my Tribeca, NSX, and SLK.
I had the Avery stuff on my SLK/NSX and use the Plexus plastic cleaner on it every few washes and it did not change at all over the 2 years.
Xpel ultimate costs a bit more but because of the deal Travis gives, it's really actually cheaper compared to the retail stores, this stuff is even better and self healing! I have this on the Tribeca. Apparently this film I only have to apply a special cleaner every 6months to keep it clear (can't remember the name but he gave me a bottle to keep). Even lower maintenance. I would have called him for the 911 but it already came 3M'd.

Just use pure carnauba wax instead of stuff with yellow dye in it and you're good to go.Originally posted by Tik-Tok
