    Default rotary tuners in Calgary

    i have a 1990 turbo rx7

Who in calgary knows how to tune rotaries especially timing, fuel is pretty much straight forward. In winnipeg, manitoba we dont have shit for tuners, once i get everything put together with a base map i'll need help fine tuning, only can get 91 octane gas here so nothing more then 13-15psi.I"ll even get some time at dynomotive if anyone can help me out in spring.

i have some parts im waiting to put on in spring just to give a better description on what i need tuned and they are:

    turbonetics ts04 turbo/div manifold and greddy type r w/g
    greddy 3row fmic
    apexi avcr
    rb turbo back and intake
550/1600 setup and aermotive a1000 fpr
getting engine rebuilt furshore to handle 500hp to the crank
    waiting on wb02 sensor
getting ap engineering power fc+datalogit for my car because its plug & play and for several other reasons i choose this over microtech or haltech.
    i have fuel press,oil press+temp sensor,coolant temp sensor,egt sensor and boost gauge

    im looking for 350-400rwhp

i know one guy here but all he does is engine r@r and engine rebuilding,no tuning.

    thanks.

Yup Maxt will forget more about rotaries and efi tuning than the majority of us could ever learn. As far as I'm concerned when it comes to tuning you need to see what's been done previous. A shop can make all sorts of claims about how they are good efi tuners but you need to look at what they've done previous that would back up their claims.

One look at the car's Max has tuned and delt with, and you'll know he's for real.

You have a couple options most say you will need to go to a standalone but I have been working very hard on the code for the FC's and I have found quite a bit of data and tables I don't think others have found. Maybe by spring I will be able to do a complete ECU tune. Either way standalone or ECU if possible I can help you out also have an inhouse dyno. I am not in Calgary but if you are comin from Winipeg that is not a big deal either.

There was a huge debate on www.rx7club.com about RX-7 specialties. My advise would be to read up on that thread and give them a chance 1st of all.

probably based on the sheer experience of talking to them.

everyone I've ever met that's talked to them has said unless you're flashing huge cash and drive an FD, they wont give you the time of day.

They always delt with me in a positive manor. I was not pleased with most of the work they've done on my car, or the work I've seen them do on others car's. All that's been hashed out over at rx7club.com. I suggest making up your own mind, go take a llok at the shop, talk to them in person, talk to others in person regarding the work they've done. Get them to do something small, if you like the work they do, feel free to continue dealing with them.

Like I said before, you should judge a tuner by the tuning they've done in the past.

I mentioned it before so, it should be nothing new. That motor was built by RX-7 Specialties, and it had less than 10,000kms on it. It was a weak motor from the time Maxt took possesion of it. One of the 3mm seals just folded over on itself, a/f ratio's were perfect. We were pleased with the number it put down, but no one shed a tear when it exploded, it was an excuse to put a strong motor in the car.

Us rotary guy's are all smiles all the time
