Default Nevada Speeding Ticket - Demerits Transfer To Alberta?

Got my first speeding ticket in my M3...going 92MPH in a 70MPH zone in Nevada.

Curious if anyone has any first hand knowledge whether this will be added to my driving record/demerits removed? I understand it is supposed to be transferred...but wanted to hear anyones experience.

I want my record to stay clean and have been thinking about getting a traffic ticket specialist to fight it...any recommendations?

Nope, demerits don't transfer. I'd still pay it though.

If that's what you think a "traffic ticket specialist" does, you prolly shouldn't be hiring one. Besides, even if this ticket did transfer, it'd only be on your record for 2 years, so who cares.

I plan on getting Craig P. Kenny & Associates to deal with the ticket I think...they have had great success and only charge $50. They claim to get it reduced to a parking fine. Never heard of such a cheap service but I'll look into it more tonite.

As far as traffic ticket specialists go I've used them twice in Calgary before (Pointts) and had both fines reduced with no demerits. For what its worth I've personally had two other speeding tickets where I went in and spoke to the Justice of the peace and had the same results...only ever had speeding tickets in my trucks until a few weeks ago. Clean record is clean and when or if I apply for another job they usually pull a drivers abstract...this way there's no questions on it during the interview...

It wont even show up on your abstract.

I'd be floored if it would ever affect you here in any way... both legally or demerit-wise.

Keep in mind that I believe you can be arrested in the US for unpaid fines - so if you ever plan on going back to Nevada again you might want to consider getting it taken care of.

Ya I plan on getting it taken care of as I do alot of travelling in the USA.

I'm with most of you guys on the fact that it is highly unlikely that the demerits will transfer and show a record on my drivers abstract I just would rather not take the risk but hearing about other experiences helps alleviate my doubts.

I got a speeding ticket in Wisconsin last year for 20mph over. Just got a fine, no demerits or anything.

In all my years of looking at abstracts I've yet to see anything from the USA show up on an Alberta abstract. Of course maybe it's because all my clients are good little angels?

    Why bother paying it?

Last I checked they can issues warrants for simple traffic violations. It will never EVER effect anything in Canada.

I've worked for traffic court and can tell you this up front. Heck if you got tickets in Sask and then moved to Alberta the fines you got in Alberta would have no effect on your new AB driver's license.

The RCMP though can issue warrants on tickets that's the major diff.

Pay the ticket in Nevada, absolutely, no question. Hiring a lawyer and shit?! complete waste of money!

Certain states share information. DOn't know one way or another if Nevada is on that list. They can issue a warrant and you could potentially be arrested next time you enter the USA. No effect here, but there is down there if you want to go back.

My brother got one for 27 mph over in Nevada when he was 16 on our way to Rachel / area 51. He was a minor and had a mandatory court appearance and we just flew home. He's been back to the states like 10 times and never showed.

I always just mail it back with a US bank draft.

Wouldn't be much fun trying to cross the border and getting detained.

Wife got busted. The trooper took the fine on the spot. We never went to court.

She was convicted in absentia and had her "Wisconsin" license suspended for a year.

Doesn't make a difference for travelling. We just got back from Hawaii yesterday.
