If you're driving an Alberta car with a US drivers license, your name will get run and they'll find your Alberta license. From there you'll get a ticket on your Alberta DL, and a ticket for possessing more than 1 license.

You can drive a US car and US license and it'll work, but believe me, it's not worth the hassle. US insurance is double here, and registration fees is taxed on car value. I was paying 1000 a year for registration on my car haha.

Bonus with park plus tho, you'll never get a ticket. The system doesn't recognize US plates. Free parking everywhere. That and everyone thinks you're a tourist, so you can drive an open lane and ppl will let you into traffic during rush hour merges.

Update: Paid Craig P. Kenny $50 to fight the ticket...got reduced to a parking fine with no points. 400 down to 195...so 245 said and done. Not bad

The best experience I ever had was in Montana. I bought a G35 from Minnesota with MN plates on it. Got caught for going 20 over. The cop checked my paperwork, said in Montana you have to post the fine on the spot for out of state drivers or they follow you to nearest ATM. He said the fine was $20. I kinda chuckled inside and wanted to say "is that it?" but just handed him $20 and he gave me a receipt. I was on my way in 5 mins. I have not seen anything on my abstract. Cheap cheap.

Off topic question, sorry. I got a ticket in BC a while ago and lost it so don't know where to phone/mail to pay it. Will it just get transferred to Alberta so I can pay it at the registry here or do I have to call BC?

some american police havent even heard of alberta. i once got pulled over AZ for going to fast. Anyway officer was like "What state is this from" when I gave him my Alberta Drivers. He just said to slow down and "theres no point of giving you a ticket"
