The only reason I haven't flashed CM10 is cause I still like the novelty of some of the S3 features, like S-voice. One I use pretty commonly (and also why I use the stock messaging app) is the hold up to face to call current text convo.

That's why I just say I have a 4" dick and lift weights to make up for it.

Not to mention when dropped, glass can crack and metal will dent and mark. I will take my so called cheap plastic phone any day.
I dunno, I've had every iPhone made and the first gen from the states with the aluminum back was SO much better than when they replaced it with the plastic backed 3G...it just feels much more substantial and quality. Plastic feels cheap...IMO the SG3 would be pretty rad if it had an aluminum back.

Scratches are a non issue, I've always had the 3M style film on my phones and they are perfect. Maybe the SG4 will move away from plastic.

I need to play around more with an SG3 though...

I agree the other materials feel more premium. No argument there. Just not that important to me.

But on the other hand, I paid about a quarter the price and gained more functionality than I ever imagined a phone could have so I won't be upset if it doesn't last 3 years since I didn't have to sign a contract for it either.
Android is an OS. Not all Android based phones are created equally. So you can't exactly compare build quality based on what OS it runs.

SG3 is poly carbonate back, not plastic. Higher quality than plastic and keeps the phone light in weight.

Anyone have a nice thin case, like just a frame/bezel style specifically? I haven't found anything good yet.

I just want one that provides enough of a "lift" when laid down that it protects the camera lens from getting scratched up when laid on a counter/table/whatever!

EDIT - F' it. I hate trying cases unseen/untested but I ordered this one:

What are you all using for screen protectors? Preferably one that maintains the quality of the picture.

I'm still using the one that came with the otterbox defender. It's pretty thin an barely noticable. I originally had the one sold at the bell kiosks (the one that comes with a squegee and spray solution) which was absolutely horrible. It was cut way to small for the screen an was thick.. maybe like a mm atleast.

I recommend to NOT buy that one. i just can't remember the name of it now...

EDIT: just found the box.. it's called "ishieldz".. Overpriced pos.

Be careful clicking on links on your phone. A simple html link could reset your device. Ouch.

I got the invisible shield HD one...pretty good quality. Barely noticeable at all.

So I dropped mine tonight on concrete and the screen is toast. Looks like the outer screen is ok but cracked behind it and doesn't really turn on. An ideas if anyone in town repairs these?

Polycarbonate plastic is still plastic. Just like saying FRP bumpers aren't fiberglass.

Apparently the guy at sunridge mall by the shoppers has done a few already. Screen is expensive he says.

Im not taking any chances, i bought the biggest, fattest case i could. Hopefully i dont break the screen. They could have made this phone perfect by using gorilla glass....

Best place to buy a Galaxy S3? I still have one year left with Rogers and don't plan on renewing or upgrading my contract with them. I'm starting to hate my iPhone 4 a lot.

S3 does use it per that link.
I think the actual problem *is* the Gorilla Glass -- scratch resistant = harder = more brittle = more prone to cracking. My buddy could scratch the crap out of his with a car key and not leave a mark but a waist-high drop cracked his screen.
