Gah, I'm getting so sick of this Update thing.

I'm on the rogers network, and I want to update, but I keep getting "access to the software update service is provided to users in the order in which they request it. Try again later"

I checked while I was at a bar two hours ago, and it said I could update, but my battery was nearly dead, so I was going to wait until I got home. Now that I'm home, I'm not allowed to update again. I tried updating through kies and it's telling me that I can't access the update.

Pretty annoyed with this right now.

Ended up nabbing the file from XDA, and had to use Odin to load it.

No wonder Android is so fragmented.

That sounds like a Rogers issue, not an Android issue?

Similar thing happened to me. I got the update in the afternoon of Dec 2, but I wanted to update via Wifi. So I kept getting that same message for 2 days. I was finally able to update last night.

That's not a Rogers issue, that's a "Everyone in Canadia wants the OTA update at the same time" issue.

Does anybody else notice a decrease in LTE download speeds with the official JB update? I was getting 20-30 Mbps on AOKP ROM but now I'm only getting 7-15 Mbps.

I noticed lte speeds vary depending on time of day.

Is the talk back function of Google Now broken on the S3?

I've made it my default double click instead of s-voice, but I've noticed that it only displays the cards and doesn't speak out what's there. Odd considering the iPhone Google search app does.

I've checked to make sure that the voice settings are there, and I've even looked online about some work around, but it's still not working at all.

TO GET GOOGLE NOW FULLY WORKING IN CANADA, YOU NEED TO:
set your system locale (not the one in Google Now, but your actual device language) to en-US (use https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...relocale&hl=en), add custom locale with language 'en', country 'US', and apply that. The stock setting of en-CA (Canadian English) does not work
change your Google Now search settings to use Google.com instead of Google.ca. You lose cards otherwise.
Make sure Google Now voice is English US to avoid further issues.

does anybody have problems with google chrome? Mines super glitchy and nothing works when i tap the screen, just keeps on sending me back to my previous pages i viewed. And once awhile my screen will have a red frame appear.

I've been using chrome for a long time, no problems here. Although I am running CM10 and not stock.

I've done the fix mentioned below your post but still no voice on Google now. I'm not entirely sure how to change the Google now seach settings....

Had to use an app called "home2 shortcut" to let me change the double click.


finally it's working, though it looks like I'll have to wait for some updates to some of my games/apps also. Jelly bean broke a couple like Draw Something.

I am helping a friend to unlock his S3 from Rogers. But one question came to mind is how will an unlocked phone affect getting updates from Rogers? Does Rogers somehow verify that the phone is locked to Rogers before sending any updates to the phone?

Could you provide a bit better detail on how you made it work please? I used Custom Locale and I believe I applied a custom "en-US" locale, where can I verify this in the phone settings? Also, as mentioned, how do i change Google Now search to .com in lieu of .ca?

It will not affect the updates, it will still be branded Rogers and get the updates as normal, along with the Rogers bloat ware.
