Default Picking a car for my parents

My parents are looking for a used car that has to be:

    1) Reliable
    2) Automatic
    3) Get good mileage
    4) 4 Door
    5) FWD or AWD - prefer AWD
    6) Under 100,000 km
    7) Under $10,000

Since they live in northern Alberta cars like Audi, etc. are out as there really is nowhere to get them serviced. My parents are over 70 and not dead yet so no reason to be driving a Camry or Civic. I had some cars in mind and leading the pack is a Subaru Legacy. I also like the Lexus IS series but they are outside of the price range. Maybe the Mitsu Lancer? Probably outside the price range too. What other options can you think of?

Hard to find awd for under 10g and 100,000km. Maybe a 2002 to 2005 VW Passat with 4 motion?

My parents did like the VW a friend had. How reliable are they? The TDI would be nice.

How good does mileage need to be? The Subies aren't that great (~10L/100km in my experience), but are great all year round cars. Consider an older Forester with low mileage if you can find one.

Peace River. The big 3 (GM/Ford/Dodge) are the closest to them. If they go to GP (approx 200 km) they can get service from most of the other makes - with the exception of some of the higher end brands.

RAV4. There's 2003 base AWD model in Edmonton with 105k km on auto trader, asking $10,600, private sale.

So considering where they are, something from one of the big three would make the most sense as driving 200km one way could prove to be a real big PITA. Or are there some private auto maintenance places in Peace River that could properly service a Subaru or such - problem with no dealership in Peace River is getting parts in a timely manner could prove to be very difficult.
    Will fuck off, again.

I have an 09 corolla CE with 100,200 kms in GP for sale.. $10k takes it. Selling it this cheap because the front and rear bumpers have cracks in them. Only problem is that it's standard..

Reliability was part of the criteria

Reasons why Drumheller area wouldn't make a good race track venue...
