Hey everyone,
Just wondering if someone could point out, or recommend some local Credit Unions that they know of, or ones that they actually bank with! Looking to open up an account with one of them soon, but doing my research.
Thanks!

+1 for first Calgary. Been with them for 8+ years and never had any complaint. They also have a new "no fees for me" account worth looking at.
Another +1 for first Calgary been with them for 15+ years
personal/business/mortgage even had a car loan from them back in the day.
Switched to first Calgary a year ago and haven't looked back great service
Sig nuked by mod.
First Calgary is awesome
1st Calgary since it started.
+++1 for First Calgary
Banking and mortgage with them. Great rates and great service.
AND, you get $$$ from them in the form of shares, like a profit sharing.
My Karma ran over your Dogma
First Calgary for the last ~14 years. No complaints. I now live in Red Deer, but they've got deals with other Alberta credit unions where I can take money out no charge. It's alright.
My wife uses them for her business and seems pretty pleased.
(Except on cheque cashing day when she gets an idiot teller who goes through each cheque one by one)
Vettel's #1
haha, sweet. Thanks everyone.
How does that work for a bank? Share interest earned by the bank or something?Originally posted by cidley69

Ya, credit unions issue shares to their clients, so if you bank with them you are an owner, and receive a share of the profits.

all members have member shares when you first open your account, depending on how much business you have with them, you get profit sharing back from the credit union. mortgage, rrsp, td, loc etc... is not a lot, but kinda shows how they treat their members
CU also has deposit guarantee with no limit, back by alberta credit union central and govt of alberta
