    Default exhaust rasp - HELP

    Hello everyone

iv got a V6 2010 camaro, just finished getting long tube headers installed, already had a cat back system. not the car is loud and has a major annoying rasp when accelerating. cruise is nice and smooth.

    need some suggestions.

i was thinking of installing 2 Vibrant ultraquiet resonators, or 2 Twister race mufflers.

what would you recomend, even something different would be great as long as it works.

i really dont want to have to put the stock headers and cats back on but it may be the only way.

    sugestions please.

What kind of "rasp"? Sounds to me like a broken flex pipe or a vibration somewhere from something rubbing when the engine "flexs" on its mounts under load.

nothin is hitting, its not drone, it is definitely rasp, like a high frequency raspy exhaust not but only between 2-3500 rpm, after that its just loud. the loudness isnt soo bad but the rasp is nasty. like a bunch of bees trying to explode out the ass of the car.

I still think it's vibration then. Lift it up and get under it while someone revs the motor, might be moving just enough to hit a shield or perhaps there's a broken hanger you haven't seen.

I would recommend a magnaflow muffler...I have one welded in my 98 camaro & with my off-road y pipe and longtube headers there is only the slightest hint of rasp in lower gears & low rpms which I don't mind at all.

Does the car still have a cat(s)? When I took mine off and put a straight pipe, I got exactly what you're describing. Drove me so crazy I put the cat back in haha. Another words, needs more sound dampening and it was definitely NOT due to vibration.

its not vibration, thats for sure. yes the cats are gone, with the long tube headers, it eliminates the cats. i am going to add a couple of vibrant ultraquiet resonators in the rear. if that doesnt work, then i will put the stock headers and cats back on.

What long tubes did you get? My crap ARH came with hi-flow cats, and even with the v8 it was pretty snarly without them. I put the ARH cats in until I make some changes. If you could hold-off, you can have mine in about a month when they come off.

    Ok, I believe you! haha

I had the same thing between about an 800 rpm range in my car and it was from a bad hanger location, that's why I thought that way.

    Good luck working it out!
