    Default Rubber Mulch

    Hey Beyonders,

Anybody buy this stuff before? It is over double the cost of the regular wood mulch, but seems like it will last way longer too.

I need 6 cubic feet of mulch which will be $400 for regular black wood mulch, or $1000 if I go rubber and they (Blue Grass) only has brown or blue.

Any experiences with this stuff is appreciated. Cheers!

    6 ft³?

I would say the mulch is fine. I know the scotts stuff says it has color guard to protect against decoloration. I have had some down for about a year and a half or so and it is still black as can be. Bigger pieces though in the bags. Was a mix of scotts I believe and whatever bluegrass has in bags. I bought some bulk stuff at the landscaping place by deerfoot mall last summer and it is still also baclk but the pieces were much smaller. I just also bought some at walmart in bags for $3/each but it is also quite fine, just needed some filler stuff.

I should have said 6 cubic yards. Oops. I am thinking I will just go with the regular wood stuff, but bigger pieces is the key. The fine stuff deteriorates much quicker. I am going to check the rubber stuff out too though just to see for sure if it is even something I would like. Cheers!

Got a quote from them. Saw them on Google, but didn't call until your recommendations. $1100 delivered for 2000 lbs of it. Enough for 450 sf @ 2" deep. Bluegrass was a little cheaper, but don't have black. Only brown or blue. Not sure what I'll do yet. $400 for regular black mulch delivered.

I'm using the rubber stuff, but only in a small planter around a window well and around one tree. Using it for the last year or so and installed it over top of weed mat.

The only complaint is that grass trimmings from my trimmer land on top of it and take a long time to break down.
