Default Let's discuss current selling costs!

I've no interest in ever selling either of my S13s... but I'm wondering what they'd even be worth these days.

I've been out of the game for the last year or so... what's a tastefully modified S13 go for these days?

I mean, I think an S13's selling cost used to cap out at around $15 - $19K regardless of how much money you put into it.

Then there used to be the ~ $10K S13s that were usually show worthy and clean as fuck with a very long list of quality parts, but obviously didn't have endless amounts of coin sunk into them that the $15 - $19K jet engine S13s came with.

Then there used to be the $5K - $7K S13s that were alright, came with a turbo setup of some kind, maybe had a few pieces missing here and there, but were overall decent.

Lastly, we had the $1 - 3K S13s that lacked something major like a clean body, or a turbo setup.

Is it still the same? Or do these prices seem inflated to you guys by today's selling standards?

It's all about emotions. Once you have that much money sunk in a car it comes down to finding someone with lots of cash or a nice line of credit that is emotionally driven to purchase the car. Anyone with common sense will not go and buy a $19K S13 when a lot of newer cars can be had for the same amount.

I don't think there is a price limit on these types of purchases. In general the market will never support any of the older, but not classic cars, enough to make them worth the amount spent on them.

    I'll be selling mine soon...

'92 LHD, with an S14 SR20 with the basics done, and the major rust has been taken care of. Probably gonna list it at $6.5k?

I think thats a little high considering how many JDM ones are arriving with way more mod lists for cheaper. Most people who buy 240sx aren't gonna dish out tons of money for a clean chassis.

Can't remember what that one sold for but it was below $10K I think.

The best 240sx I have seen that was sold was Jeev's black 240sx. I dont even know how much money was sunk into that and sold for but I imagine crazy

Maybe true, personally I probably wouldn't even bother with RHD no matter how many mods there were but I don't know if that would really effect pricing. The second link you posted, wasn't that one of the main Speedtech cars? Remember the purple coupe they had as well? That was going for $17k I think, not sure if it sold or not.

I'm also intrigued by this topic.
    I'm done with my s13.
    Just don't want it.
    Heres the issue,
I've fully built a motor, pistons, rods, cams, you name it.
Probably dumped 6k into the motor alone.
My full build has cost me 13.3k
And it's 2.2k shy of completion.
(needs an ecu to run it all)
I'm having trouble deciding if I want to just start parting out the shell (s13.5) an all the other amenities it has with it, or do I dump the 2.2 in, get it dynoed to the projected 400hp (limited by gt2871 turbo) and attempt to sell it complete.
I figure I'd list at 12k, even though the hit would be massive.
I still don't think I'd sell it even close to that with today's market.
    What do you guys think?

I don't think you'd get that much either, unfortunately. You never really do make your money back on these kinds of things

The other thing of course to consider with parting it out is the time and space. I can probably get more for my car if I parted it all out, but I don't have the time as I'm only in Calgary for short periods, I don't have the garage space to take apart the car either and let parts sit around, and I'd rather get a lump sum of money for the car than sell bits at a time, eventually getting enough money to buy another car.

Wow, I see my old car is changing owners again.
(third posting). Man, it's been stripped dry of almost all
the upgrades. It was bound to get a sr sooner or later,
    so that I'm not surprised.

I figure when I sell my current car, I'd get 15K
( my pennies' worth) and I am getting lots of people
    asking me for it.

I know this is probably the WORST possible time to try and sell, but is anyone out there looking for a 180sx? I didn't have the time this season to prep it and create a for sale thread.

Lots of good parts and is in excellent condition. Next semester is going to be an expensive one
