Yes, but the Auto has the ability to slip the torque converter.

The shorter gearing of the manual just means more shifting.

If you have base scion stereo, hit menu with car on but stereo off and set the car setting to FR-S instead of factory TC - sounds a lot better.

My homelink/dimable compass mirror arrived today - standard Subaru part with a 7 dollar plate. The power wire is supposedly already there even on the FR-S.

Oh, and the wheels are 5x100 48et which is funny since that's pretty much my old vw wheels (et35 though).

1 other hate: TPMS Sensors!! But that's on lots of new cars.

The blue frs tester at South Pointe is manual, as was the white one making the rounds (not sure who ended up with it).

Test drove the FR-S a month ago in automatic and I must say that the tall gears really help quiet things down going 120+ km/h

Paddle shifting is great on stop and go traffic and the 5th and 6th gear ratio is great on highway speeds

I found the car quite enjoyable to drive city and highway.

Interior is good quality not horrible and they gauge cluster is the one that stood out on the dash, very crisp lighting and lettering.

I know people here seem to joke about it a lot but so some of you really bust out the HELOC's for vehicles?

Not too sure about others, but I hate debt (and interest for that matter..) to the point where I would almost classify it a phobia. So no, no HELOC on vehicles for me! Save up my cash, spend when available. The mortgage is more than enough debt for me! :P

On a side not, that widebody kit concept looks pretty awesome on the BRZ/FR-S! Bares a striking resemblance to the EVO X. Love it.

    I have a 275K Heloc and it's at prime +.5

Most new cars have better finance deal, like 2.9 or 3.9 or whatever. But some don't - especially used or terms over 48 months. So why not use it if it's cheaper?

This is my thinking. If the rate on the HELOC is better than what the dealership offers, why not? You're saving money and giving yourself whatever repayment program you want. Like I said, I don't have one, so maybe I'm missing something.

It's all the same shit different pile.

My entire life is on a HELOC. That's how I roll.

BMW interiors are nothing special. I sat in a FRS, the interior can go toe to toe with a 3 series in fit and finish.

Hmmm I was browsing the TRD website and came upon this:

New feature – an industry first (patent pending) Fills the gap in the door striker area using a spacer. This provides quicker steering response by cutting down the delay from when the steering wheel is turned. The built-in sliding mechanism automatically adjusts the gap to zero. Designed to be easy to install, yet maintains a strong visual presence.

Do you guys think these actually work ?

If it can go toe to toe with the 3 series fit and finish that means it blows the corolla looking interiors in the Lexus IS cars out of the water

Why would Toyota do that to itself?

F30 interior kills the FRS interior in every which way.. not fair to compare a $50K car to a $30K car though, The FRS interior looks and feels like the interior of a car in it's class.

Here's an interesting fact for the HELOC buyers. 87% of heloc car buyers pay more interest than they normally would on a fixed rate/term loan because they delay repayment as it's so much easier to do on a Heloc. Average repayment time on a $50K heloc loan is 10 years.

    Simple.

    Because Human Nature.

You WILL pay off your car loan, you will never pay off your HELOC.

So many "ballers" buy high end cars on HELOC, or remortgage, sure, nice to drive a GTR or Zr1 with nothing more than a $300 interest payment.

But at the end of the day, you are just a broke ass, and your debt will remain long after your car is gone.

And for those that think "nah, won't happen to me", [cough]bullshit[/cough] Happens to EVERY "wanna be baller". Always something you will justify throwing onto your HELOC till it's full, or house prices move up and you get it extended.

Yeah I'm not into that shit. You reach your 40's fast and start looking at retirement and if you have a big mortgage because of cars you don't even drive anymore you are setting yourself up to work a long career. I could drive a baller car but I choose to get middle range cars like EVO's or Mustangs because I can have them paid off in a year or two. I don't want to work in my late 50's.
