NDP is the best we have for now.
But, kinda beside the point.
Should our elected leaders engage in secret meetings, pacts etc with other corporate giants, royal families, and other politicians?
I expect transparency and full accountability from my elected official. We claim this is a democracy, right?

Someone mind explaining what a Bilderberg meeting is?
I apparently am missing out.
Minutes are secret, speakers names are not recorded etc.
Wall street giants, royals, politicians, corporate giants, extremely wealthy and influential people.

Canada needs to be in a position politically and economically to keep up with the rest of the developed world or we will lose standing and large corporations and rich families will take their business to friendlier countries. There are necessary evils in the world that give us the lifestyles we enjoy and take for granted. You enjoy living off the avails of these and other similar meetings when you tune cars for people who work for these corporations, imagine how your life would be if we weren't the ultra rich powerhouse we are right now. If you enjoy these luxuries then you are supporting the very people who you seem to be against, and that is why it will never change, we are all hypocrites.Originally posted by Toma

No they shouldn't, however it wouldn't surprise me if any other party was elected that they wouldn't be at the same meeting...Originally posted by Toma

Edit; GTS is right though, it is a necessary evil to maintain a certian lifestyle.

That's a very large assumption. Why would something need to be secret, and kept from the public?Originally posted by jdmXSI

Can it be assumed that they are looking after OUR best interests, or theirs?
The above posts seem to reflect a certain level of assumption with no basis in fact, or even logic. Just belief based on fear. Fear of change, and fear of degradation of lifestyle, without any provable basis in reality.
Because we live in a real world full of greed and bad people who will use certain information to help our "enemies" surpass us economically. Explain how my post is not based 100% in logic. I do not use fear as a compass but live in a reality that seems to be eluding you. I make no assumptions and completely distrust the government. Now explain how to change that overnight without causing a major lifestyle change for every single one of us. I am too attached to having nice things and living in a first world country to just throw all that away in the name of "fairness".Originally posted by Toma
