    Default Mutant Dandelions

Need help, my usual tricks aren't working...

Trying to fix my front lawn... DSPO apparently had a rule "never water". So as a result, pretty shitty weak lawn as a starting point.

Started the season early with the Corn gluten meal and aerated. Realized it wasn't going to be that easy... Lawn started greening up - looks like shit, sparse & weak. 3" mowing height, 1" of water per week.

Topdressed & Overseeded, which got the dandelions and clover going like crazy. Lawn, not so much...

Been hitting the weeds with killex, that wasn't even making a dent, damn weeds didn't even wilt or brown or nothing... Got me some 24D from UFA (mixing per instructions), They brown out a smidge - then come back with a vengeance... The f*cking ones coming up in the sidewalk cracks, I've been hitting with roundup - and they're taking weeks to die.

    What's next?

I think this is your only choice right now. Keep going at it until you don't see them pop up anymore

There's no way in hell I'm hand weeding nearly 60,000sq feet of lawn (yeah I get to deal with the hamlet's turf too... FFS) Chemical solution FTW!

Hire a bunch of kids from your neighborhood. Split it into grids and make them do it.

I bet it'll be cheaper than chemicals.

... Or just bomb it with napalm; call it a day.

LOL, kids are expensive these days... Had a few by looking to walk the dogs - 20$ for a half hour... Mow the lawn - 60$, FFS - I could buy me a couple Mexicans or Newfs for less than most of these kids! (I kid I kid!)

FACT - The day you just give up and don't care about dandelions anymore is a glorious day, and it will add 3 years to your life.

Ignore them, make a salad, make wine. Happy life to follow.

When I lived in Calgary, I found that Killex worked the best for taking out the dandelions permanently. I used the style that you attach the garden hose to and spray on the lawn.

That said, the same product does little to the ones I have on my lawn here on the Island. They seem to be much stronger and much more resilient.

I have now began the process of digging them out... it's a long and painful process, but it's working.

    ^^

Killex and Weed B Gone are good pruducts.

For those environmentally friendly types and want to do a little bit of work.

Fill a spray bottle with vinegar

Break off the base of the dandelion stem and 1 sqirt = dead plant in just days.

Be careful,,, it will kill the grass too if you over spray... with the side effect of wanting deep fried halibut and chips and a squeeze of lemon.

Pull them out with the tools that were mentioned above then give two shots of killex in to the hole.

Yeah, the "giant Weed Torch" that I linked to. I use that for killing weeds in my decorative gravel. I wasn't serious about using it for lawn care.

It is a good stress reliever. Nothing eases the tension like a flamethrower. I'm sure my neighbors worry about me though.
