Default New bike license laws 2003?

I'm not sure if it's confermed, but I heard that in Alberta after
2003 hits, after you get your bike license you have to ride
    a 300cc bike for 3-6 months before upgrading to a 600cc +.

That would be a reason for me to grab my license before
snow fall , just ot have it for the future.

Does any body know anything about this?

Instructors are dumbasses. I could have aced my motorcycle test, but I was told to do one thing by my instructor when they were totally wrong.

Doesn't affect me, got my class 6 5 years ago

I hope it happens, but I think the cutoff suggested was 400cc.. Have you guys ever seen the INCREDIBLE 400cc sportbikes you can get overseas?? they're amazing!

I think if we start to get a graduated licence system here we'll get some of the cooler small-displacement bikes coming here. I'd buy a NC35 honda (mini RC45) anytime!

To be honest, I've been riding a long long time and I'm tired of people buying Hayabusas for there first bike saying that everything else is too small.. a 600 these days would WASTE GSXR1100's of 10 years ago. a 600 sportbike is NOT a starter/beginner bike these days.

When a bike's got as much horse power as a car, you had better
    bring out the black suit...

i emailed alberta gov't about the new laws and this was their reply:

    Thank you for your inquiry.

We suggest you visit the Alberta Transportation,
Saferoads website for information on proposed changes to classifications of
    class of licences at
    www.saferoads.com

I browsed the site and it doesn't suggest anything about limiting the size motorcyles for new riders.

Looks like there's new changes to the probationary period for class 5 and 7 licenses

actually its a good idea, sportbike riding is getting filled with dumb riders that go out and buy R1 as their first bike, but the only bad thing is the extra money spent changing bikes, but I agree with the idea that new riders should start on something smaller.

Taking a 600cc bike up to 6000rpm is already more than enough to beat almost every car on the street and anything above 10000 is crazy fast, or so I've heard...

let's just say that when you race a car, you NEED to shift at redline... but in a bike, you can KILL even if you shift at HALF of redline!!! Mind you half of redline is around 7k...
