    Default travel insurance? (weird situation)

k so i'm travelling from Australia to Canada for 3 weeks and want to get travel insurance.
From looking online, no Australian companies can provide insurance to me because I'm not a permanent resident of Oz. And the same thing goes for Canada.

With that being said, have any of you been in a similar situation and figured out where/who/how to get proper insurance coverage?!

hell, even just call your auto or home insurance companies, most of them offer travel insurance as well.

hell, my work benefits also include health insurance, so I don't even bother getting any secondary coverage any longer.

    EDIT: Re-read this...
So you're no longer a resident of either country? Unless you're there on an actual working visa or are getting citizenship, I'd just give them your parents address and get insurance that way. I'm assuming someone here is still storing some of your things and getting mail for you.

Otherwise try a company from a different country. When I was in Africa last year I had to get insurance through a British company as no Canadian ones would insure me for some regions due to our travel advisories.

I think I paid $1400 for a years insurance, but that was for "high risk" areas and covered everything from hostage insurance to extreme sports, so I'm sure it won't be too pricey.

Thought to resurrect this thread for a similar question.

My medical insurance through works covers me all over the world except for US. We are hoping to go for a week long trip to US while visiting Calgary this summer. My wife will be 28 week pregnant during the trip - this seems to be a problem for most of the insurances I have looked into so far.

Any suggestions for brokers/insurance companies I could talk to about my specific situation? Ideally, I'd like to purchase health and trip cancellation insurance for both of us for the week we are in US.

    Any help would be appreciated.
