He's a smart guy, he's proven that in all the interviews I've ever seen. He's had logical answers to even the most loaded questions CBC could throw at him. I bet less than 1 in 1,000 people, if randomly asked, could give a clear answer as to why they hate him.

    Mob mentality I guess.

And zero fucks are given from him.

Oh definitely. I've seen some really loaded questions from Ron Mclean with regards to getting a new time in Canada (before Atlanta got moved to Winnipeg) and there's no fucking doubt, he's a Jew lawyer! He's one smart mofo and if I were ever running a business, I'd want this guy on my corner.

So the NHL can cancel the Heritage classic right up until actual game day!

Fucking pathetic. If these losers can't come to an agreement........

What the fuck are these guys doing? How about we just stop all this bullshit and cancel the damn season already, instead of trying feed us fans a bunch of horsehit saying they're trying their damnedest to settle.

We see all the players walking through the halls of the Grand Hotel, wearing their flip flops, Oakleys, suntans....those poor boys must drained the way their dedicating their time to these talks.

So just how ARE the talks going today boys?

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=403609
The NHL's latest round of collective bargaining talks ended before they began.

A scheduled bargaining session was cancelled Wednesday afternoon after top executives from the league and players' union held a secret morning meeting to discuss the best way to move forward in the discussions.

They mutually decided to reconvene with their negotiating teams on Thursday morning, when key economic issues are slated to be back on the table.
Ahhh I get it now...."Boys....there's a bikini contest going on later today at the beach. We better have an emergency meeting this morning to discuss the status of today's regularly scheduled meeting, where we'll decide to further talks at TOMORROW'S meeting. Good job boys. Seeya at the beach this afternoon"

    WHAT A FUCKING JOKE!!!!!

if by 'big and profitable' you mean 'loses in the ratings to reruns of Spongebob Squarepants' and isn't even in the same breath as the 'big three' (formerly known as the 'big four') then I agree that Bettman is awesome.

as to why I hate him, how about because he has fucked

Same. Was looking forward to getting another year of "Centre Ice" package. And REALLY looking forward to HBO's 24/7 with Detroit and Toronto.

In the meantime, I'm getting season's tickets to Junior A Hockey and go to a few more Hitmen Games...AY seats off Kijiji, FTW!

I was planning on going to California in March and scratching three more hockey teams off my list:

Thu, 7 Mar 2013 Flames vs Sharks
Sat, 9 Mar 2013 Flames vs Kings
Sun, 10 Mar 2013 Flames vs Ducks

I don't understand the players to be honest. They have no risks, guaranteed contracts etc etc. and expect the owners to take a less cut.

In my opinion this is on the players. ESPECIALLY since the NHL was ready to negotiate since January and the NHLPA was not ready till the end of June.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Luckily for me I can jump back to basketball for a bit and NFL is still there until feb. But missing a whole year of hockey with no fantasy pools and no flames...garbage.

Uh, no, I think by "big and profitable" he means "big and profitable".

Last year saw the most revenue ever, and they've had record revenue 5 years in a row.
More than 50% of teams saw local TV viewership increases, with TSN, CBC, Versus and NBC all seeing total NHL viewership increases.
    Sponsorship up 30%.
Average attendance was 3rd highest of all time.

All of this despite having teams in unarguably shitty locations.

From a business standpoint, the NHL is doing very very well, and I think it's largely thanks to Bettman.

Pretty good deal for the Oil.

Let's hope that Shultz isn't as good as he is touted to be or else the Oil are maybe a couple D and a goalie away from being a decent force in the west.

Pretty awesome and emotional video. A little player biased but they acknowledge it in the description.
