i dunno, they showed the replay a few times, and imo, gagner did try to avoid quick but as the goalie turned, his pad hooked the skate of gagner. not gagner's fault. he was also standing outside of the crease at the time.

i just thought there were a lot of chincey calls yesterday. i'm not an oilers fan (far from it) but i would've been pissed as well.

i hate the oilers but you can clearly see that he is trying to get his foot out...

add in the fact that if quick wouldve turned the CORRECT way the skate wouldve come out of his pad.

Trying and/or intention don't matter.
If you trip someone but weren't trying to you still get a penalty.

this situation can be compared to somebody grabbing your stick, putting around their waist, falling down and you getting a hooking penalty. not your doing yet you get the penalty.

Ya but it does happen. There are times where I see a stick near a player and they will wrap their arms around it or clinch the stick in between their arm and body and the other player will get a hooking call.

Watch the replay again. Gagner cross checks the D-man right in the numbers, D-man gets up and actually tries to guide Gagner AWAY from Quick and Gagner still runs into him and gets tied up with him.

i agree with the cross-check, i don't agree about what the d-mans intentions were.

yeah, they should've called the cross-check but didn't. just goes to show the inconsistency of the reffing.

That was my point. it does happen but it doesn't mean its correct.

I think he was "helping" him in the direction of his goalie. there are countless examples of defenders pushing someone into their goaltender and the offensive player will get a penalty for goaltender interference.

3:39 in Gagner makes no attempt to avoid the goalie, he continues driving towards the net when there is no gap there. Scuderi tried hooking him away from Quick

I'm NO oilers fan but that should have been a goal. He was pushed into the goalie even though that may not have been his intention but it happens all the time and LA should have payed the price there.

it actually should have been called a penalty against edmonton and blown dead before then, Gagner has a blatant cross-check against Doughty (from behind) right before that happened. If they would have called it properly LA probably wins the game 1 or 2 - nothing
