Default Villa Firenze + a dessert place after?

I'm thinking about taking the girlfriend to Villa Firenze for an anniversary dinner...she loves italian food. And we've been to a ton of italian restaurants in town already (Villa Maria, Buon Giorno, Pulcinella, Famoso, etc etc) so I thought I'd try a different place.

Anybody try this place before? How was your experience?

Planning on going elsewhere for a dessert after as well, if you know of a great place...do chime in!

    Greatly appreciated, thanks!

Been several times, very good and fairly consistent, they have a daily special of grilled portabella mushrooms in a cream sauce which is excellent. As well the scampy dinner with risotto is always a favorite. I think you will enjoy it there.

Been several times as well. Good service and the food is excellent.

+1 on the portabella mushrooms in cream sauce recommendation.

Bonterra opened a new place on 17th ave called Cibo... I've not been yet, but have heard decent things about it.

I saw photos of Villa's interior, looked super cozy and had the right kind of atmosphere I was looking for. Neil I also recall some individuals having lackluster experiences at Bonterra...

Interested in Cibo but it looked like it was a bit too casual.

Maybe a fondue at Living Room or Laurier Lounge is in order. I'd really prefer Italian though so suggestions are welcome.

What about La Vienna in Kensington? I've heard nothing but rave reviews. The outside looks tacky, but apparently the inside and the food is outstanding!

La Vita E Bella was great the last time I went there.. mind you that was 2 years ago..

Abruzzo may have the atmosphere you're looking for. Quaint little house downtown. Their pasta is quite good

I have three go to places when we're doing the romantic thing: The Rouge, The Ranche and River Cafe. All three haven't failed me yet

Went to La Brezza because of a review I saw on beyond. I have been back a few times for special occasions and I always come out stuffed!

Stuffed with quality I hope (and assume).

    How's the quality/ambience/service there?
