Default How many days of Holidays do you get? (Technologist/Technicians)

I was just wondering what people (technologist/Technicians) are getting for holidays starting?

    1. # of holidays?
    2. Any sick days?
    3. Any personal days?
    4. what to expect after 1 year, and then 3 years?
    5. are you working for manufacturing or engineering firm?

i know the min is 2 weeks, and3 weeks after 5 years, but what are beyonders getting? i am trying to find out so i have a more solid ground to stand on while asking for more holidays. Thanks!

Don't technologists belong to a professional organization with access to that info?

Work in O and G and I get 3 weeks vacation, 6 flex days. On salary so sick days don't affect me as long as work isn't affected.

Flex can be carried over, so i had 10 this year and my 3 weeks vacation.

With the ten days off at Christmas it makes for a solid 5 weeks of vacation time.

This is after working here 8 months.

0-10 years is 3 weeks vacation
10-15 years is 4 weeks vacation

5 sick days without needing a note.

we also have 13 flex days throughout the year. It isn't really time given to you like vacation is because you work half an hour extra every day to make up the time.

may as well throw up what my employer does. (standard for all employees)

    at starting we get
15 holidays +stats off and paid
    15sick days (paid)
    5 days family related (paid)
    2 personal (paid)

at 5 years employment you get another 10 days and then at 8 years we get another 15 days for a total of 8 weeks of holidays after 8 years.

Holidays we have to use up in the year we earn them. Sick carries over and is paid out when you leave if you have a excess balance.

Personal days and family related must be used that year and don't carry over and don't get payed out. (use em or lose em)

We usually get a Friday off as well before any long weekends which adds a couple days throughout the year.

I'm a IET w/ journeyman electrical ticket working in the engineering branch.

As well I get about 10k budget a year for continuing education to take courses, tickets, certification, ect.

    - 12 Personal Days (can be lumped together for an extra 2 weeks and 2 days vacation).
    - In my company you get 3 weeks Vacay to start and the 12 personal days but when I started with a contract engineering company they started at 2 weeks. After 3 years there is no change for us at either company. The first step is usually around year 5 or 7.

Jeez, maybe I should come work with you lol.

    We get

    - All Stats
    - 4 weeks vacation (160hrs PTO), but can go up to 40 hours negative on PTO if we want
    - Sick time comes out of PTO unless longer than 4 days and you have a note
    - Every second Friday (26 days off)
    - Time off at Christmas comes out of banked time

Bumped up to 200 hours PTO at 5 years. Juury duty is paid and we continue to accrue banked time and PTO like normal.

I was wondering the same thing...

I'll add my 2 cents in, but keep in mind I am somewhat government. Some of you guys have wicked deals for being in the private sector, especially considering you probably get paid a reasonable wage unlike me!

    1. # of holidays? 3 weeks (15 days)
    2. Any sick days? AFAIK, as many as I want. An e-mail the morning you're not coming in suffices for notice. I've never taken more than 2 sick days a year though.
    3. Any personal days? No
    4. what to expect after 1 year, and then 3 years? no change until 5 years
    5. are you working for manufacturing or engineering firm? R&D, Instrumentation Technologist

I get something already mentioned, an "earned day off". By working an extra 15 minutes per day (maybe 30, but nobody "actually" works it lol), we get a day off of our choosing once a month, and up to 5 in a row can be banked. So, I basically get 5 weeks and two days off, plus all 12 stats (and then one or two additional gov stats) plus some extra days off at Christmas. I can also use my holidays whenever I want at basically a moments notice (but I'm not an asshole like some co-workers, I either let the company know months in advance my schedule or make sure nothing is going on at the time before I ditch).
