    Default Is this legal?

Say if someone scammed you some money and you found out a bunch of information about them, and would like to share how much of a scammer they to everyone they know. Ie. send emails... Would that be illegal?

    Coles Note:
    - Son scraped my car and left a note.
    - contacted him later and went through a bunch of bodyshop to find the cheapest ones.
    - Son agrees to pay X amount
    - Completed repair, son says to call dad for repair money
    - Call dad, he disagree to pay because he didn't see damage before and after repairs.
    - Now son and dad stops talking to me or my insurance company.
    - Through the internet i was able to find out that dad is a President of a sizable company with a bunch of his colleges.

I'd post in the non ask leo section of Beyond.. It isn't illegal if it's true, right?

"ask" for "advice" from normal Beyond.

Have you already reported this to your insurance company? If so, provide them all of the emails and everything showing them admitting guilt and have the insurance company go after them for subrogation.

They've been telling the insurance company for months that they'll pay, but never sent a dime. Now they stopped talking to the insurance company altogether. I talked to the CPS and they say they can't do anything because it has passed 6 months and the claim is under 2k.

So, was it the son that told you he would pay for the repairs himself, or was the dad involved for the entire process?

If the dad was only made aware of what was happening after the fact, it's probably not fair to be involving him.

Wow, that company must not be doing well then if the President can't even fork up under 2k in repairs.

Post it up punky. These are the type of people that won't do the right thing until they are forced to. They'll never learn, and it's certainly a fine example the dad is teaching his son. Not.

By the way, do you know whose name was on their insurance? Son or dad?

    This.

You are allowed to say anything you want as long as it is true, and your opinions are not made to look like the facts.

If this was my situation, I would be more than willing to cough up the information on the family in a public forum such as this. I called out Guy's Hill Landscaping once for screwing me - and while it did not get the results I was hoping for, it is high in the search engines and should help other people from getting screwed in the future.

A little bit more information about this case:
    - I actually talked to the father before going to my insurance company, which he told me that he's not going to pay the full amount, because he didn't see the damage before and after. He was willing to offer me up $500 of the $700 his son had promised.
    - I contacted my insurance company and sent pictures of before and after, they confirmed the amount was reasonable and they pursued him for the damage of which they have yet to get.

you brought up a good point, but the son never told me anything about his father until i asked for the money, how am i suppose to know? Either way its his son's mistake, why should i be paying for it.
However, I'm still considering your opinion before i make any post.

I know the feeling, but I'm going to wait a bit before i make any harsh decisions. If i don't get my money I hope to see his name on top of google's search result as a scammer like many others i've seen on beyond.

They have offered this to me, but they'll only pay $200 and there's a chance that this is considered at fault for my next insurance assessment. So i'm leaving this option last.

Yeah, are you a collection agent for your insurance company or do I not understand how insurance works? If you went through insurance, why are you out of pocket? Did they not pay the repairer and then it's out of your hands?

Makes sense - but I wouldn't wait too long. With Guy's Hill I was extremely patient and it only caused me more stress in the end. From the sounds of it, you've already tried to make it right and they have more or less flat our refused. Once someone decides they are not going to man up, it is very difficult to try to appeal to their sense of right and wrong.

At this point I would leave him one last message saying that if you are not contacted inside the next 2 days that you're going to do what you need to in order to get the damage paid for.

    Learn from my lesson.

How do you figure it will be at fault? What happened?

I've seen someone take someone else to court for attempting to defame their character by spreading rumours about that person being a witch and a very bad person. The judge simply asked the other person, "Do you believe they're a witch?" The person said, "Yes" so the judge threw it out. If someone actually believes what they're saying is the truth, it's not slander.

Facts obtained from television court programmes, don't blame me for incorrect information. I'm just passing it on.
