Show up the first day in some decent pants, and a button up.. If everyone tends to be wearing jeans/polo which is the case at most engineering firms, just dress accordingly.. Most likely people will laugh their asses off if your wearing a suit.

do NOT wear a suit to work, girls can wear pretty much anything business casual to engineering work as long as ur not wearing lululemons, miniskirts, etc.

Anything business casual. Dress up more on your first day so you see how everyone else is dressed. Even then I would dress a tiny bit more formal than the norm since you are an intern and new.

Buy only one outfit for your first day, then see what everyone else is wearing. Buy the rest of your clothes AFTER that day.
    Good luck, enjoy your job.

You won't be fired in an engineering company for dressing like that, just that you'll have lots of nice co-workers offering to help you with everything, and I mean EVERYTHING

I find women in the corporate workplace tend to wear

    blouses+tailored dress pants
    short sleeved/sleevless dress shirts
    summer dresses/dresses with cardigan
    cardigan/dress shirt

Ehh, well that's what I usually see. But as recommended above, wear something that looks professional, but not overly dressy.

Good luck and congrats on your job.

Whatever.. you guys are fucked in the head. There's nothing wrong with that girl at all.

More likely, she wouldn't touch any of you keyboard warriors with a 10 foot pole wearing a hazmat suit.
