Default Paint care question: Dark paint -- care tips, what to anticipate, etc.

Never had a dark paint colour before. My current car is silver, and I'm thinking about a dark paint colour for a new car: dark grey, or black.

What are somethings I should know about caring for dark paint and stuff like does black show more dirt than white or silver? I'm even scared to wax it myself for fear of damn swirl marks, which I started to see even on my metallic silver paint.

black is awesome, but extremely high maintenance.

shows way more dirt, small scratches and basically everything else then most other colors (especially silver or white)

I even hitchhiked to the library once cuz my parents were too lazy to drive me haha. Ya, I'm a nerd.

Dark paint. Make your sure paint is cool before doing anything to it. A warm/hot paint is much easier to mar.

    Here are some basic tips:

Everyone owns a vehicle in black once in their life, the lazy among us head right for silver and white the next time. I admire a nice black vehicle freshly waxed and at the same time smirk as I know in an hour it will look like crap.

Get silver or white and enjoy your free time.

Even if you can't see that a white or silver vehicle is as dirty as a black vehicle, doesn't it bother you to know that it is dirty? My vehicles have been black, red, black, silver, and then black again. My 5 work trucks have all been white. They all get dirty and it bothers me the same to know that they are.

I can never figure out people who tell me how hard it is to keep black clean, and then they hop into their car where the paint is dull as shit because it's dirty. Clean paint shines, regardless of color, and if it's dirty, it's dirty.

That's six dirty's in this post, if you're keeping count.
