k20 > B18 any day man
Rebuild will be cheaper on the short run, but considering that your probably ganna go all out to fix it up you might as well get the K20.

Depends on what you want out of the car, personally I'd rather keep the b18 in an ITR for the nostalgia feeling and keeping it somewhat original.

Just because its an actual Type R, I vote B-series.
Then get a k20 from another Type-R lol
Is it the car's original engine? I'd say keep it if it is.

I would go K if you want more power, better platform over all. Like Errol said, there's a reason why everyone does the Kswap. I've owned 2 Type R's, and plan on going K eventually with the current one. The cost of rebuilding the B just isn't worth it when K swaps are so affordable now a days. After you build the B it still won't make as much power as a K, plus you get 6spd.

K is the way to go unless you are going to keep the car COMPLETELY stock and build it as a "restoration"
People that say stay B series have either never driven or ridden in a kswap car.

And for my earlier statement, didn't mean it to come off as a bad thing. Kseries in general are awesome
Saying b series are worth it is like saying zc swapped ef were worth it 10 years ago.
K is the future. Why build something that'll you'll probably upgrade. Yeah b series are good, and they have their following, but if you're debating the two go k. People who go b powered have their own reasons and probably aren't in a position to do a k.
hmm im going to try and restore the car to original. posted for sale if anyone wants a type R lol if not ill keep buidling and fixing it. im from lethbridge no honda guys here in town im on my own and a kseries swap isnt going to be fun alone lol. Loooking at reggies car alot of work... also jus got new rear end parts from Jeff in calgary, tailights, bezel, and rear bumper. Jdm front might be soon if car doesnt sell in a month. AJ racing also has a list of parts on hold for me to say okay: lets just say samco, blox, koyo, voltex, spoon, t1r !

With so Many Civic Si's 06-11 The K20Z3 can be found for cheap, with LSD.
These motors Make 220WHP with bolt ons tuned.
Why Go B? A built B20Vtec Might make 220 in street form.
A built K20/24 Frankenstein can make 275-300WHP on pump gas.
And People see 400whp with stock K's quite often boosted.

K is not the now. A "cheap" k build is still around 6 grand. Most people won't drop that much into their rusted out hondas. B are still the now. They're everywhere used and parts are cheap.
But back to the op's thread. If you are considering both, go k. Build to whatever your budget is.
