There has to be more to the story... maybe I'm naive but I can't imagine a company would fire someone because they're kid's cancer treatment is too expensive.

If he doesn't like it he should go live in in IRAN!!
Unfortuntate for sure ... but there is way more to this story.
He now is working at Chase Bank for less pay than he could earn with securities registration, according to the lawsuit. The suit says Chase is not letting Gonzalez sell securities because of the reasons that Wells Fargo gave for firing him.

But in the vido clip, they said he was fired for not punch out his time sheet correctly... Thats a pretty shitty excuse if you ask me, if it's true.

So since you have a sick kid, theft and/or fraud is perfectly alright with you? Pretty much every company is going to look at filling out your timesheets dishonestly as such.Originally posted by codetrap
Ick.. even if there IS more to the story, and there usually is.. WF made a huge PR mistake in this.
If you go look at your contract with your employer, I guarantee there is a clause in there that makes that sort of behaviour grounds for termination.
See Crank. See Crank Walk. Walk Crank Walk.
this is ridiculous
on a side note: those subtitles were really awfully done
Yup, you're probably right. But it is super greasy for an employer to dig up an employee's dirty laundry a few days before a major health treatment is scheduled for one of yhe employee's family member. I'm not sure if you read the whole Article, but it appears Wells Fargo investigated the cost of the cancer trEatment first, then they proceeded to find any sort of reason to let go Gonzalez so they can avoid paying the increase in premiums.Originally posted by FraserB

Also, Gonzalez's supervisor approved of these 'falsified timesheets'. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the same thing as: I'm scheduled to work 8:30 - 4:30. I arive to work at 8:40 and my supervisor understands why I'm late. When i get my pay cheque, I'm still getting paid 8:30 - 4:30. Is that considered falsifying my timesheet?

I'm sure he's clean if they only way to get rid of him is by timesheets.
I"m pretty sure they found a way to let him go because of the health costs. Sounds very typically American from what I understand. Health Insurance companies have full time employees dedicated to finding ways to deny health cost claims.
fck america imo those ppl are so messed up and most don't even see it.
Nah, not the point. The firing is one thing, the failing to provide the information in order for dude to continue his child's healthcare is entirely another, especially when the kid is scheduled to do a major surgery. Also, you gotta be pretty heartless to fire dude just before his kid's major surgery. Really, what would it have cost them to keep him on for another couple of weeks then let him go after the kid was done the surgery?Originally posted by FraserB

I find it interesting that we all blame WF, but in reality, the single person at WF that made this shitty decision should be held accountable personally.
This is funny because it's so ridiculous. Keep drinking the union kool-aid there. Nobody wants the exact same system as the US. Every single person that's advocating for a 2 tier system wants the BEST of both worlds, like immediate access to healthcare for those who can afford it, reduced wait times for those to can't, and none of the pitfalls of the US System. The most vocal and powerful people that don't want a 2 tier system is the unions, and not for any good reasons like wanting better access to care. All they want is to protect their power base and bargaining power.Originally posted by Maybelater

And before you start spewing misc garbage at me, Yes, I realize the entire system is broken, including the executive, down to the union. Hence my desire for two tier, then I can avoid the broken system altogether until someone finally decides to clean house and fix it.
