    Default UofC parking?

Hello so I'm a first year engineering student this semester and I've having a hard time knowing what I should do for parking. I read that mcmahon stadium is too far, and art building is just way too expensive. Are there any other solutions I should look into? I've tried searching but a lot of the information/posts are old and I don't know if anything has changed since then.

If there are off-campus solutions I'm fine with that but I would like to limit walk time to 10-15 minutes.

You can park for free off-campus on city streets (ones that aren't 2h or permit only) and it's probably only 10-15 minutes. Sucks in winter, but whatever.

Just past the fire-hall and the Shell research building is some free on-street parking.

@tbomb haha I thought you were joking but i looked it up and that safeway is actually just 10 mins away from the engineering building. Can you park in that lot as long as you want without being towed or ticketed?

@J-D I know it's possible I just dont know where haha

@extraslow do you mean 37 street? i street-viewed it and it looks like on one side of the road its no parking and on the other side is 1 hr only

Hey OP - it looks like it's going to be a nice day for a drive, possibly to cruise around and check out the areas that J-D and ExtraSlow are speaking of. Couldn't hurt to do a little bit of legwork for yourself, eh.
    Will fuck off, again.

Yeah 37th street. Even on google street view it's pretty clear what part of that street I'm talking about. The key lies right by the blue saab . . . .

@speedog yes I was going to go at some point to check out the area, and see all the parking spots everyone is talking about. This of course is AFTER I get an idea of where people usually park, sound like a plan?

@extraslow ahhh I didn't go far enough north, I see where you're talking about.

Any other places? And does anyone know about being able to park in the safeway lot without tickets/towing?

There are signs in the Safeway lot saying you'll be towed. People do park there though.

I rarely drove, but when I did I usually parked there or the Brentwood Park & Ride.

$5.00 per day gets you all day parking at lot 32 or the lot right by the kines building, (i think lot 13). Lot 32 is quite the walk for the Schulich building though. But as a first year student, you're probably not doing any cores that are located in Schulich anyways.

I need like a how-to - order chinese food for white people.

They don't check the 1hr parking by that saab?

Park at Lot 11, I think it's also $5. Park at the end of the lot and cut through CCIT to go to ENGG. Shortest distance to get indoors.

My classes start at 8 AM everyday, do you think I'll have any trouble finding a spot in a lot or brentwood station?

Also is there some kind of semester/monthly pass for parking in the outdoor lots?

Holy smokes, if you can't even find parking solutions by yourself, you're not gonna have a fun time in Engineering.

Pfft, engineers just drink and become social recluses.

It's not like the shit they do affect lives.

Yeah everyone tells me that if I'm not familiar with U of C parking then I might as well just not bother with anything other than being a dirty bum. My life is ruined!

I had a friend that was going to one of city schools pay a storage manager at one of those big retail stores $50 cash per month to park without being reported.

I wonder if Safeway could be convinced of that...?

When's the last time you saw me have a drink?
Therefore your statement does not stand, or I'm just living a lie.
