The Jeep also cut through a solid white line to attempt to change lane... a bit impatient there. I am all for defensive driving... in fact, whenever possible, I try to make sure there is an 'out' whenever people do stupid things. In this case, though, even slowing down would not have avoided a close call in my view when someone is determined to blindly change lane.

No doubt. SUV driver made a stupid move, no matter what.

But the OP should slow the eff down in that situation.

I was originally in the left lane coming up behind them and could clearly see the empty crosswalk and someone sitting in the crosswalk area waiting to turn left across the oncoming traffic, probably could have been going a bit slower but I wasn't just flying up the road all willy nilly.

Red means stop. Quality isn't the greatest, it's zoomed in a lot to see the crash better.

I've got to get another camera... I've had more close calls in the past 2 weeks than I did in the year I had one.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Here's my first compilation and contribution of bad drivers in Calgary, enjoy.

I drive quite a bit and I'm surprised not catching more crazy drivers or accidents through the years.

My guess was concentrating on the next set of lights, which was green. Concentrating so hard didn't even notice the car in the right lane was stopped.

The other car spun backwards and stopped out of frame in the unzoomed video.

Wow nice job, this is a pretty good compilation of just running into complete stupidity on the roads!

Got this one in La Vienna parking lot tonight. Vans bumper was destroyed in the corner and trucks chrome bumper was scratched. Van was about to leave until I went over to ask them if they let the owner know or not. They weren't planning to so I went inside to find who owned the truck and came back out with him. They said we were somehow working together to do something with the insurance company against them.

Here's one for all the Beyond experts... who should have given way to whom? (sorry for the fog, if I had known it was right in front of the camera I would have wiped it away)

Car on the right gets the right of way in my view.

To me its always the guy who's behind (even if by 1foot) who has to yield - because its easier for the car in the back to spot someone moving into the same lane than it is for the car who has to check blind spot and somehow see the car two lanes away about to switch as well??

Its obvious what he meant, the purposeful acceleration to cut the dodge off even though it was clear what he was going to do. But this has been beaten to death in this thread. Some people just love to show off how shit they are at driving.

Agreed - I've seen my share of these. 2 lanes over and you're right in his blind spot; plus as a defensive driver, guy slightly behind has the edge in seeing the action and taking corrective action. It's like skiing - the guy behind has to watch the guy in front.

But having said that, usually the person changing 2 lanes and not seeing the car going in are morons and need to be a better job of checking mirrors and shoulder checking and the guy slightly behind is also dumb. So there.
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!
