He has a sidearm in a duty type holster from what I can see when the vid is paused and zoomed in, you can see it and it is riding fairly high and outboard from his body/duty belt. If I was to hazard a guess, it could be a Tac unit or some other special unit-officer as their uniforms aren't the same as the rank and file CPS, and they for obvious reasons have some vehicles that aren't at all what one would expect as a typical 5-0 roller. Just my 2 cents, but he is absolutely armed with a handgun based on the low res vid stills from the 14 second mark.

edit - and yes, terrible place for a stop, but sometimes they don't get to pick the best spot.

Thanks for your inputs guys. I totally agree that it does look like a gun on his hip in the video.

I did tweet the video to the CPS twitter account but that's as far as I took it. Didn't hear anything back so I'm going to assume they're fine with it.

Also agree that the location for stop was totally on the driver of the white car. I would've pulled up a bit at least to the off-ramp to the McDonalds. That's not on the officer/fakecop, that's just an oblivious driver. Hopefully it all worked for the people involved.

I totally agree with you re: different units and uniforms. But you'd think that even from a different unit, they'd still be following the CPS vehicle standard - Ford Explorer or Taurus/Crown Vic vs. having their own officers outfit 2007-2013 Mazda 6 as a cop car. In all my time, I've seriously never seen CPS sway away from their standard vehicles regardless unit; this isn't bad boys where some millionaire become a cop and is allowed to drive his personal Porsche as a cop car

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

I've seen radically off-spec police vehicles in Edmonton such as a 20+ year old American car (that was never used as a police car). I've also seen a Nissan Altima in Kelowna because those poor motorcycle enthusiasts have such a vigorous presence there (where they store toys all year to prepare for that children's parade).

It's a thing. We don't notice it because we aren't supposed to.

Cars for true undercover use, but they wouldn't have the blue lights fitted, or be pulling anyone over on the street.

    Weird.

And it’s not like they’d stop a blonde haired teenage girl walking in the dark at 10:30pm with an unmarked patrol car and no lights on and expect her to run for her life.

Traffic can have some undercover cars, and so can TAC. I've seen TAC in an old 80s GMC van before, but they won't pull anyone over. I've heard of a traffic unit that was an F-150 towing a horse trailer.

Not sure about the traffic ones for sure, but I've seen the TAC one in person.

I saw an unmarked Gladiator with the lights pulling a car over on Highway 1 before…by COP so I assumed it was CPS. But I was surprised to see that as a police vehicle.

That's amazing how fast it was. My wife's vehicle got rear-ended this summer and "supply chain" issues was almost 3 months to get it back. We had the rental car for over a month alone.

Glad you got it back so quick.
