Meanwhile my gf was first to help. She had to testify last 2 days for the prosecution. Also random, defense attorney is a daycare parent friend of ours haha. Surprised there was no conflict there.

Since you have some inside knowledge in this case, I am wondering, is the fact the dude is jaywalking, crossing against the light, and not in the crosswalk being mentioned? Does it have any bearing on the case?

She had to wait outside during testimony so didn’t get to hear anything. Only caught defense entering bag of drugs in evidence.

There were 4 charges. On the subpoena it was failing to yield to pedestrian (plus 3 other charges), article says careless driving (guessing that’s the criminal charge hence not in traffic court) and unreasonable speed. No clue what the last charge was.

no, lol, I don't think I have been DT for like 2 years as I work from home now.

I thought that pedestrians only held right of way in a crosswalk when they had the light. I was kinda under the impression that if you are jaywalking, you were kinda fair game for a lack of better term, and had to yield ROW to vehicles.

My understanding of the local law is:
-Step off the curb to jay-walk: Pedestrian at fault.
-Between the time he is off one curb and onto the other: Drivers are at fault due to distracted driving, speeding, driving unsafe for the conditions... blah blah blah.

TL;DR - drunk guy jaywalks in front of ambulance. After being hit claims ambulance could've avoided it. Jaywalker judged 2/3 fault.
