    Default Math 31

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has upgraded their math 31 through online school and what their experience was. I took the class is high school and didn’t really take it seriously and now I am paying for it. I want to take this class online was thinking of either Alberta Distance learning or cbe e learn. Anyone tried either? advantages/ disadvantages to each?

    Thanks!

Why do you need to upgrade Math 31? That's calculus.

I am upgrading Calculus to get into engineering. I have an average of 82 and the dam things went up to 83 this year.... i only got a 78 in calc in high school so i feel it will be the easyiest to bump up as it is my lowest mark. I also feel i would greatly benifit from a strong calc understanding for school next year.

Just take it in Uni and make sure you get an A. So simple.

Is that to get into Engineering at U of C? Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't the 82 for guaranteed admission into the program? If you are 1 percent below I'm sure you will still be fine. Or is it different than from 10 years ago when I first went into engineering?

I think he needs to redo in order to get in... Can't you cram an option HS class to bump your grade up 1%.

    IMO, that's less risky.

You make it sound so easy.

UC Engg is specific 5 courses:
    ELA30-1
    Pure Math 30
    Math 31
    Phys 30
    Chem 30

You need 82-83% to get into UofC eng this year. Average has gone up significantly this year.

Just take 1st year at MRU or RDC or equivalent. I had a 68% avg in high school and graduated engineering with a 3.6 2 years ago.

Save money and go that route the u of a treats you like you took yor first year there, u of c gives you a slight penalty, but still easy to get in.

Way back in the day I didn't have room to take Math 31 in HS, so I entered general studies at MRC and took it there, twice even. First time an F, second time an A. Then I was accepted into Engineering. It also allowed me to take electives to lighten the load for later a wee bit.

Should have realized then that as much as I loved math and science, I did much better in the humanities. Could have saved myself a lot of time and money.

yes average for u of a was 82 and u of c 81 this year. Both have said they will be raised to about 85 next year this is why i am upgrading. No one had taken it online? I was considering taking it at mru but i dont think its really worth the 500 dollars if the 100 dollar online courses are equal.

I don't mean to highjack this thread but what is Math 32 equivalent too? I graduated in '97, when our Math courses were 10, 20, 30 etc

    Is it 30-2?

I remember 30-1 is the normal one and 30-2 is the easier version.
