So you're advocating to just let them go until something does go wrong?

A dump truck doing 25kph will only make the news when it tips over and crushes a Mom and her kids in a minivan/SUV.

High river RCMP uses unmarked cars (crown Vic's in brown) as well as laser, although the laser is usually used in "problem areas" in and around town.

In what way is this relevant - a Grand Prix is not a Grand Am. Totally different cars - kind of like a Fit and an Accord.

It is in my opinion(said carefully) that most police officers should go and sit on a traffic cone.

Don't get the wrong idea here, I do believe in some of the laws, I just don't believe in the way they are enforced.
Well the same "douche" gave me the information and ability to fight a bullshit ticket.

I don't think se7en is funny at all.

When did I say it was supposed to be relevant? Just adding more Pontiac numbers to the convo - just like the gentleman above your post.

Yeah, I suppose. This thread has gone all over the place in quite a short time - would be interesting to eventually find out what happens to these two drivers, 200kph and 220kph in an 80 zone has got to be a hefty fine and then some and yeah, it must have been a slow news night for this to garner a front page spot on the Herald's web site. Of course, a motorized picnic table story nabbed the front page on the SUN's web site, so it was a slow night.

BTW, 104 Street would line up nicely with highway 22 out near Longview - doesn't everyone know that this is a very heavily patrolled highway?

Lie, the Grand AM is limited at 180 :P

I was able to get it to 183 on a steep incline coming back from BC on that mountain highway.

I've got a 10 year clean abstract, and I've likely been pulled over 20 times. Speeding, seat belt infractions, open liquor, no licence or insurance on me at the time, unsecured loads, burnt out lights, etc...

Most police are just normal people. I've had no trouble getting along with them. Treat them with repsect, be easy to talk to... I don't know what to tell you.

You must be pretty unlucky to get tickets for 7 over the limit. Or you [insert common excuse] lipped off the cop, have been pulled over for the same infraction multiple times, etc...
I can eat more hot wings than you.

Usually when they give you a ticket for going like 5 or 7 over the limit their are often other circumstances. I know one officer had told me he gave a person a ticket for going 3km over the limit when he was driving on the highway with cruise control on. He passed the vehicle and noticed both of the drivers feet were on the dash.

I think when they often give those minor tickets its them being polite to not give you a ticket that is potentially more severe for something else you were likely doing.

So why wouldn't the officer give the guy a ticket for having his feet on the dash instead of 3 km/h over? That's a ridiculous assumption to make, if you are doing something wrong, why would the officer give you a ticket for something else?

Officers do give tickets of lesser extent, but I see that when people are speeding.

i.e.) You're speeding 20 km/h over, but you were very respectful, so I'm giving you this "Failure to signal" ticket.

Never really seen someone give a speeding ticket to someone who did something not related to speeding at all. I'd just go and fight it if that was the case.

I think these two deserve a good smack. That said I think it really sucks when a road is scheduled for construction and the speed is reduced without any actual changes in the road. Then the CPS milk the hell out of it with photo and lidar. Once construction actually starts you never see them because people start slowing down for the actual construction so a trap would not generate as much revenue but would improve safety. I saw a photo van parked at the end of a merge lane onto Glenmore by Chinook at 11pm. Construction was completed but the 50 signs were still up. THE NEXT MORNING the 50 signs were gone, speed raised to 80. No more van. It’s the "cherry picking" that annoys me. I very rarely see a speed trap that is not in a location with an unwarranted speed reduction.
