Default Banh Mi Bar Food truck

I've always wondered why it's taken so long for a Banh Mi Food truck, but looks like one has finally hit calgary!

    BanhMiBar Twitter

Apparently it launched during the weekend at Expo Latino, and is launching in downtown today along 8th and 8th.

Anyone check it out yet? I'm curious on the prices and the wait times, as other food trucks in calgary are expensive and slow.

I can't see Banh Mi taking long to prepare, and I could see it being very successful if done right. Banh Mi is the perfect food truck type food.

    I agree as well!
As long as they don't charge outrageous prices, it will be awesome!

    Just had one! Quick rundown:

All subs come with cucumbers, pickled carrots, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, onions, and home made pate & truffle infused mayo.

    Beef Sate
    Chicken Sate
    Asian Pulled Pork
    Veggie (King Trumpet Mushrooms)

    All above going for $8.

I had the beef sate and it was pretty tasty, but did not get a spicy kick from it (for those who enjoy spicier banh mi's). The pate was definitely on par with Thi Thi if not better. Woulld try the other ones next time, price point to food quality was reasonable. Beats walking 8 blocks over to Thi thi that's for sure! Defniitely would recommend a try for all the banh mi lovers out there.

damn that sounds like a pretty reasonable price! considering the grilled cheese trucks sell for a similar price point.

I wonder if Banh Mi Bar is a subsidiary of one of the other viet sub shops?

The sub was good overall. My only two minor complaints... 1) Not big enough, I am still hungry! 2) Needs more spicy! Otherwise the sub was very good, ingredients are fresh and it's not to saucy like other subs.

No doubt, I was looking for a big flashy truck and almost walked passed their converted van!

KRyn beat me to the pictures. But it seems like yours was more loaded than mine! I barely had any meat in mine! But overall, it is quite decent. The meat is tender and not too much sauce. The bun is really soft as well.

I had the beef sate and my coworker tried the asian pulled pork. He said he likes it and it's not bad. Doesn't see the difference between this and regular pulled pork. The meat is tender though.

It is unfortunately that after you finish your sub, it leaves you hungry.

I'm in an area where I'm in close to Chinatown, yet still have easy access to the +15 Food courts in Downtown. So Food Trucks don't appeal to me since I have so many choices of where to eat.

I think Food Trucks are great for those who are bored of eating the same old crap all the time, but you're definitely paying more $.

Thi Thi FTW. That Sub looks weaaaak.
A Ferrari is a high maintenance chick, you spend money regardless of what you do with her. You can baby the C63, or slap on all seasons, and you won't be spending anything but yearly maintenance. Of course that's like dating a stripper and refusing to fuck her, which would make you gay.

I was there at 11:35 or so when it wasn't busy. Maybe they started to run out or just got too busy!
