Anyway to track the IP of the e-mail address? Maybe even put it into google to see if it comes up. And as others said before, that is really cold sorry it had to happen to you.
Completely legal, unfortunately. I've been through this many times myself. Being a public contributor on the internet makes you a huge target.Originally posted by Spoons
If a lawyer would be so kind to PM me, I do have some questions about the legality behind all of this and I would rather as such private.
Again, I am not pursuing this this any further, but curiosity gets the best of me.
Been in your shoes before. I've had Banerjee call my boss trying to get me fired, I've had my name and my posts from 10 years of postings dragged through family court, as well as litigation court. Just have to chalk it off as business as usual as it's only going to get worse the more active you are online and on social media.
On the bright side, if it ever happens to any of you... from the court's perspective, judges are seeing more and more cases go through the system with online references, so it's not taken as seriously unless there's more concrete evidence to the postings. Thing is, a lot of people are full of shit when they post on forums/facebook/twitter, bragging or exaggerating their stories thanks to anonymity, so the judges understand that and thus online postings will not bear as much weight as concrete evidence.

^ So what you're saying is a healthy amount of bullshit online might help protect me in court? If that is the case let me start by telling you all about my millions....
Jusy kidding I'm not telling the truth, I'm poor.
(The above post is false)
....Maybe it isn't, judge.
I'm rich, bitch.

Now thank god I've got a good boss and good employer, but say they did use it as grounds for dismissal, or say I found out (I highly doubt but for curiosities sake) later on I was being held back in my job because of this, would that be legal?Originally posted by rage2

That was exactly my plan, brush it off. I have no want to go into it any further, and exactly as my boss said it, "We'll just put this away and pretend like this didn't happen." He'll get whats coming to him, they always do.
Holy crap, sorry to hear that all happened to you. Atleast your manager has the balls to stand up for you.
Workplace decisions are a lot different than judicial decisions. They can easily use your postings as a ground for dismissal.Originally posted by Spoons

Do you know anyone who seems like a reasonable person until they drink? The internet is like that, removes inhibitions until all the nastiness is out in broad daylight.
From what I can tell, most of the regular posters on beyond are at least two of these attributes:
- Boring
- Insane
- Assholes
- Opinionated about things which they have no experience.
- Unable to make decisions on their own.
I'm four of those. . . . .
I only had you down for two, so you don't even make my top ten list of most hated beyonders.
I suggest you go and listen to this:

shitty deal dude, thats certainly taking things too far

This is me. Sure as hell wasn't me. I mean really... can't even find the right manager? Please...Originally posted by Spoons
I can be cynical, judgmental, opinionated, and well... a dick
...........
I don't care if you hate me, I hate lots of people online. BUT NEVER ONCE have I ever tried to make it personal. NEVER.
I remember when beyond was cool man...
What a friggen dick move, seriously. Someone needs banning...
It takes a serious nutcase to make the jump between online thuggery and real world malice. I'd venture to say that this person can't be too well adjusted, considering they could have just turned their PC off in the first place.
Don't you think maybe they sent it to the correct target?Originally posted by Spoons
It kind of sucks that you didn't even do a bit of research to find my actual manager, I mean you kind of ruined the surprise.
Not only did you find it appropriate to write a letter to my boss, but not even to the right fucking one. So instead of MY boss figuring out what a suitable punishment would be, I HAD ALL OF FUCKING CORPORATE COME DOWN ON ME.
I know you are a Beyonder, and I know that you are not someone I work with. If you were, you would have known exactly how to find my immediate manager. You emailed some random person in my office. Just because they have the word manager in their title, doesn't always mean they actually manage people. Then you ONLY referenced Beyond posts.
wow shitty. what an ass move. karma will get the fucker.
.
Wow. Shit got real.
That is unreal someone would do that. Holy whoever you are, get fucked.

Shitty situation but, despite saying you just want to get past it, you're being awfully dramatic about it and that's not going to get you anywhere.
