Looking to attend a car meet and write a story on car culture in Calgary.

Hello everyone,
my name is Matthew Hayhurst, and I am a student reporter/ editor for the Calgary Journal community newspaper run through the Journalism program at Mount Royal University.
I am looking to write a story on the car culture in Calgary.
I would like to attend a car meet where there some action going on.
Does anyone here know of any car meets in the coming days? Would anybody be willing to talk to me about the camaraderie, why you attend these meets, what you get out of them, etc.?

Matt, you should definitely check out the meets at Barlow/61st Friday & Saturday nights starting at 9.

Also, the meets at Grey Eagle Casino on Wednesday nights.

Thanks everyone! I'm looking to take a look at the car scene in Calgary and see what brings large groups of people together to car meets. Specifically, I want to talk to individuals and see what got them interested in cars and how they got into the car scene. If I can find someone at a meet who races - great! But I'm there to get a sense of the camaraderie and the car as a point of bringing people together.

Cheers everyone! How late into the year do these car meets tend to go on for? Are we reaching the end of the car meet season?

grey eagle-older family orientated group with lots of 1970 and earlier cars and a sprinkle of exotics with 5-10 imports. HUGE turnouts.

chinook- younger, super cliquey import group

timmy's- street racers in broke ass beater shit boxes... with the odd nice car, mainly trouble making losers.

Sept 15th, Lethbridge, Fastest Street Car Shoot out, FAST CARS! But a lot of muscle and racing depending on what you are looking for.

Every Wed @ Grey Eagle until the end of the month is a All makes show n shine type event. Beyond has a Wednesday meet too but should really just join the Grey Eagle one, although I forget about both of them all the time so who am I to talk

grey eagle starts early. 5:30-8:30ish. the sweet spot is around the 6:30 mark

Angel's is nice, last time I stopped by it was very small and not the most welcoming crowd, maybe I missed the big group??

Must be my timing, was a little late, will have to check out again or maybe they are making it to the Grey Eagle meet, although they do like to support the ice cream shop (Yummy!!, worth the trip alone)

yeah i heard about it from mr. alex lee... he was promoting the car at grey eagle and then was heading to angel's after, must have been around 7-7:30? (this was just before vegas FD)
