Thanks for the help so far guys.
    2. @ExtraSlow They're on my list.
    4. Best place to get WDH, local or online? Does brand matter?
    5. Best place to get a hitch?
    6. What's average cost for bearings and brakes service on a trailer?
    7. Big thanks for the tip on this, never occurred to me that I can have it under my home policy.

Baby gate but the roll style ones. Doesn't need parallel surfaces to mount and nothing to climb on to. Width is also not an issue as long as its within the max.

    Like this: https://www.amazon.ca/EasyBaby-Produ...355322&sr=8-10
Doesn't seem like there would be much stopping the kid from pushing that out and falling between the gate and the edge of the mattress

Talk to your insurance broker. Most insurers have a "standard" way they handle camping trailers, so you may not have both options available to you.
For bearing and brakes, you can get a telephone quote from Standens and that will be a very good start. They are a great shop that doesn't fuck around, unlike most "RV" places, which do nothing except fuck around. Actually, standens sells a lot of hitches too.

I went for a property insurance product through AMA and I think i paid $180 for the year, but my trailer's probably only worth $12-14k. Just another data point.

Curious where guys are buying RV mattresses these days?
I'm looking at putting in a proper bed and tossing the fold down couch thing we currently have.

Already got a quote from Sleep Boutique.
    Looking for;
    - Three Quarter Size (also known as an antique size): 48″x75″
    - Full Size: 53″x75″

Try Canadian Mattress Wholesalers. Got my RV queen size there.

    Mattress Mattress are extremely expensive.

    I did Foam King: https://www.thefoamking.com/

The nice thing is they can do custom sizes. I had a 60"x74" mattress in mine but a bit of extra room so I had them make a 60"x76". Helps a bit.

They also have tons of options for thickness and memory foam.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

Trailer I'm currently looking needs new batteries and it currently has a single one.
Any battery from Costco good enough?
Should I try to fit two in there? Not sure how hard it would be to do.

Also, my truck never came with trailer brake controllers.
OEM or aftermarket? Looking towards OEM for better integration.

Post a pic of the battery tray area and I can advise. I converted my first trailer from single 12v to dual 6v.

I got the kids' bunk mattresses done there. They're actually just a reseller for Sureline foam, so you might as well skip a step and go to Sureline directly.

Sureline won't deal directly to members of the public, they told us to buy through http://www.dormirbedandfoam.ca/. I think we paid $600 for a custom-sized "short king" last year. No ragrets.

Huh, wonder when that happened. I bought a few foam pieces direct from them before.

Looks like it would be quite tight to fit a dual battery setup there the way it is now. Some trailer have the propane tanks up front and the batteries behind, and that would probably work, but I'm bettering that's a pretty big job to set up.

You might be ok with two batteries if you put them on infront of the other. May need a custom box though as the plastic ones are bulky but you can measure it. Then you run your + from the trailer to battery one + then battery 1 - to battery 2 + and battery 2 - to trailer -.

Do a mount off the existing battery tray, lift a bit for clearance on the sway disconnects... I liked this style Noco - with the big external disconnect. YMMV we used to have someone in the 4x4 community who'd bring them in regularly for a lot less than amazon lists them.

    Thanks for the ideas guys.
I'll have to take some measurements and see what boxes are available.
I don't think I can flip the location of the batteries and tanks, moving the tanks forward would have a bit of an overhang from the tanks.
