My mistake, it was $14g, 5 years ago. My wife was on Kijiji for years looking for a 25', reasonably priced one before it fell in our lap. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Wow that’s not bad at all. I currently have 2 GC batteries but may be worth upgrading to those down the road. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Would love to get the 280 AH
Those batteries are probably just full of tarsands oil.
280ah would be great, but not at that cost. That's insane. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

280Ah LiFePo4 battery has a usable state of charge of 80 percent (10%-90%) to maximize its life. That makes it 224Ah of usable capacity and translates to about $5.36 per Ah.
Now using Costco's GC2 batteries, they are about $170 last i checked and have 220Ah of capacity each. Two wired in series to get 12v gives you 220Ah. Now usable range for flooded batteries to maximise charging cycles, is 50% (100%-50%) or, 110Ah. To match the capacity of the LiFePo4 battery, you need 4. So about $715 for 220ah of usable flood capacity. This gives you a cost of $3.25 per Ah.
BUT...
The charge cycles of the costco GC2 batteries is about 1220 if kept within that 50%. LiFePo4 batteries are good for 3000-5000 cycles or i would say about 3 times longer. So you will buy 3 sets of 4 batteries in the same time you have one LiFePo4 battery and cost you about 50% MORE in the long run.
Assuming some asshole doesn't steal your battery. Or your battery door doesn't pop open on the highway just outside of Red deer, and the battery falls out and drags on the pavement for 200m before the wires rip tear off, and then a kind old man picks it up, follows you, and gives it back at a gas station 5km down the road.

You can also draw down way more power with a lithium battery. Lots of people use instant pots, electric hot plates and air fryers and can actually put large loads on the lithium battery versus a regular GC or deep cycle .This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My wife and I will be traveling full time and living out of our truck camper this summer and hopefully into the USA/Mexico this winter so i think getting a lithium would be worth it with our current solar set up. I may wait until the end of summer though.
I can agree that these prices on lithium seem outrageous for your average weekend camper though. I would probably just go with a 6v GC set up.
Just a reminder for anyone who wanted an electronic mosquito repellant last year when they were all sold out everywhere, you might want to get one sooner than later, and enough refills too..
So just how cold is too cold at night to dewinterize? My wife is likely needing the trailer for a couple weeks of fieldwork, but not sure i want to dewinterize just yet.. I technically have 'heated tanks' but no idea if a) they work and b) what they can handle

-5 c overnight lows is fine, no worries. Sustained temps below - 10c is starting to be a problem.

The lock core in my man door seems to be on its way out. It's tricky to lock/unlock. Is it easiest to replace the handle or to try and replace the core itself?

I think she's long past that- the whole dang lock core pulled out on me recently. which has me thinking full handle might be required. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
