Your wires are pinched somewhere against metal, grounding it, but only noticeable when out as soon there is a heavy amp draw. We get this kind of shit all the time in aviation.

Or the wire is chaffed almost right through. Leaving a single strand of wire that will allow you to see the 13v, but won't let amps through.

found it! It was a ground.

I didn't check the other end of the ground originally because it went inside a junction box (not sure if thats the name?). I took the box apart and yep, where the ground was connected into the wiring harness, it was hanging by a few strands like you had suggested. Thanks for the advice!

Slides are fun. I need to find some time to play with mine, as only one side is trying to extend. there is a manual override of the safety switch, but it requires two people to operate it. It's a fucky system. I swear I may have zero slides on my next trailer, as this has been an annual issue with this rig.
Have not repaired my slide. Even with manual override, one side isn't moving at all. Fucking hell.

Have seen a lot of instructions on how to manually retract a malfunctioning schwintek slide. But that's all about getting home and to a service centre. It's similar but more difficult to extend, and I haven't managed it. Guess I need a pro. Fuck.

Saw someone reccomend a car jack and 2x4 lumber. Seems like a good way to blow out the far wall of the trailer.

Anyone have a recommendation for an independent RV mechanic? I've called hobo, Swift and Daves so far. And gone through the dealers. Bucars is setpmeber, Woodys is mid-july, and Canadadream can do 2 weeks out.
May attempt the car jack anyway . . .

Canadian Liesure RV is booking to July 1 right now.
Seems everyone is booked solid for weeks or months now. I should have been prepping this two months ago. Been a bad spring for me personally, so didn't get to things the way I should have. Man, the years I was unemployed I sure didn't have any problems . . . .lol.

Have you called Rocky Mountain RV? busy time of year for service, would guess every shop is a few weeks out. Otherwise dice roll off some Kijiji random perhaps haha

I'm trying to sort out a 46 year old pressurized water system in my winnie

I've got an appointment at Hobo for mid-next week. I trust those guys, so that's good enough. None of the mobile dudes can come earlier, so that's no help.

Might have a site at Wyndham Caresland up for June 11-13 if anyone wants it, PM me. Or maybe I'll just end up doing Day-trips there. It's under an hour away, so that's not bad. Kids can bike and we can have a campfire and just drive home. #RVLYFE

Upgraded from the factory Westlake tires today, doing some long distance trips this summer and don't trust the cheap factory 6 plys. Went with the Carlisle Radial Trail HD in the 8 ply. Also had them balanced, not common for trailer tires to be balanced but read on some other forums that it may extend tire life?

Absolutely, will also extend your bearing life and make the trailer feel smoother when you're pulling it

Trailers should have shocks and balanced tires. Usually neither.

I have both, but my shit still gets tossed around the trailer because of our lousy roads.

What a week. Finally had time to go get trailer at like 10pm last night. Slide still fucked but we are going to see if we can deal with it at caresland. I like the water fill at Stow-Away, faster flow than at my house.
