That doesn't seem good unless you were pulling a rail car at 130...
I thought those things got closer to 12 unloaded and 14 pulling. I think that's what my friend gets in his 2014 although his is a deleted 3500.
Thats real world fuel economy for diesels that haul trailers that actually need a diesel to pull. Guys getting 14l/100km are the guys pulling a 20ft hybrid's and probably sit down to pee.

The gearing also matters a lot. My dually had the 4:10 gears in it with the HO engine. I would get 17l/100km empty or pulling 15klbs. Conversely the 3:42 gears will get considerably better mileage on the highway (sub 10l/100km) but get atrocious towing mileage. You'll also find people using the dash for the numbers when it can be off by as much as 15%. Hand calculated will be more. Always.

We borrowed a relatives camper setup this summer. When I saw it I thought the wallet was going to cry. F-350 and a 40ft fifth wheel. Then after we finished the 1,400km trip and added it all up we spent almost the same amount as my buddy did with his F-150 and tent trailer. Granted he drives like a tool but it really is crazy how much more efficient diesel is for towing.

Well that's surprising. Looks like this trailer doesn't have that hose thing to suck antifreeze into the pump and water lines.
Need to decide if I will leave it with just air blow or go back and figure something else out for antifreeze.

Locate the water pump and it is pretty easy to t in a line for winterizing. I did it. Took a me about 10 mins and a trip to Home Depot.

On that note, after you guys remove the anode rod, do you leave it off for a little bit to let everything evaporate and such? I drained all the water from the hot water tank but there's still a bit in there and having dropped $1600 to replace the tank earlier this year, I def don't wanna go through that again. Old owner was a cunt and I can only assume he did nothing.

Anyway after it's totally dry, do you guys toss something in like a rag or do you put the rod back? Online some people said toss the rod back in so the threads don't rust, others leave it open, while others stuff a rag into it? With my old trailer I stuff a rag in it to keep mice or bugs from getting it was all. But yeah...rust paranoia.

    Thanks!!!

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

My first year winterizing a trailer so take the following with a grain of salt. After a stack of reading and YouTube, I just did the compressed air method, running each tap until no moisture present. Then I added anti-freeze to every toilet bowl, and P-trap - total of one 3L jug.

As for the hot water heater, I drained it, let it drip for 12 hours and then put the rod back in. There shouldn’t be enough water left in the bottom to cause any issues as there will be lots of room for expansion. Trailer is also located in a place warmer than our climate, and with much less chance of > -10 weather.

If you blow out with air, make sure you drain the water filter if your trailer has one. I made that mistake once.

I leave the anode rod out the entire winter.

You must, must, must put anti-freeze into the toilet pump, faucets and the shower head.

If you use compressed air to blow everything out there's a very good chance it won't get everything out of the toilet pump.

yep i blew it out with air then ran anti-freeze through the system. I did also flush the toilet to get all the water out till it was pumping out the pink stuff and ran the shower head inside and the outside as well.
@suntan do you stuff anything into the water tank after you take the anode rod out to prevent rodents and bugs??? I used to stuff a rag into the tank with my old trailer but ever since i experienced the rust issue with this new used trailer, and had to replace the tank, I'm paranoid now re: rust and having to do it again.

I don't do anything in terms of plugging up the holes. I also leave the drains open on the bottom of the trailer.

I just take the shower head off now. I had one permanently stained pink, so now I just take it off. Also remember your outdoor shower … mine is by the poop hose so the only time it gets used is during winterizing and dewinterizing

I use one 3 or 4 litre and run it though the system and p traps …

I do both. I blow them out then run antifreeze. Blowing them out isn't really necessary but I do it for peace of mind. Blowing them out only though isn't reliable unless you have a super high CFM compressor and can basically dry the lines with the air. There is always low laying pipes that collect water or it gurgles back on top of the sink valve after you shut it off and still pops out the faucet neck when it freezes.

Well made our first big trip in the '73 Trillium 1300. Have some ideas on where to make improvements for next year. First up getting a new axle that thing is shot.
