Holy fuck how are the easy things hard? There supposed to be only two kids of water heater plugs, one is a small plastic plug and one is an anode rod type. Two kids, easy.

Well not so fast buckaroo. Camco makes, and Canadian tire sells, an anode rode for the type that normally takes the plastic plugs. That type should not REQUIRE an anode rod, but they make it. It sure looks similar to the other anode rod type but it also sure isn't interchangeable. Me and the folks at Hobo Camper Country had a giggle about my misfortune.

Noticed that my Dometic refrigerator is not cooling fast enough when running on propane.
Once it gets going, the freezer section works well but the fridge side barely gets cold.
I understand that the refrigerant flows to the freezer section first which is why it cools first but even after 2 days the fridge section is barely cold to the touch.
Any idea what I should be checking/replacing?

I don’t have experience working on an RV fridge, but home fridges run as a freezer and simply let a bit of cold air fall into the cooler compartment, or blow it in when the freezer is below. Is there a slider or knob to set the cooler temperature? (turn it lower, or maybe the air passage is blocked)

Might be your fridge door seal, or your fridge might be too full. They make battery operated fans that clip to the fins for circulation in the fridge. That might help you.

Thanks @suntan , I agree there's life in that anode rod. I'm keeping it around.

As for fridges, I always found, especially in hot weather, that it pays to cool the fridge and freezer empty before adding any food. Basically let it run overnight. And add only cold food. Don't load up 48 warm beers and expect the thing to chill those in any reasonable timeframe.

You've got years left on the rod. I'm surprised the lady at Hobo didn't show you the spent rod they have on hand.

I'll always put a couple of ice packs in the fridge as well. Separate cooler for beer.

Shrink sleeve butt connectors WITH heat shrink tubing over top of it. Took this pic before I hit it with the heat just for you.



Doing new brakes on rear axle while I repack the bearings. Easier to replace then diagnose weak brakes. Found the drivers side brake on that rear axle was totally seized, can't budge the lever arm at all. Glad I tore into it. Other side didn't look bad, but once it's apart I replaced.



I also have a can of chain oil that I spray into the suspension for a little lube. Found that removes squeaks on a previous trailer and I want to be proactive on this one before any long trips.
