Ultracrepidarian
+1 on pics.
started researching more about Maratona Dles Dolomites and definitely on my bucket list to see next time we are in Europe.
Will most likely be viewing the scenery on a car though and not on a bike
definitely post a thread with pics and info once you're back and have fun there!
Got some pics on strava under the same handle. Yeah I'll get stuff organized once I get home. They put petals in the shitter in my hotel room, no shit.
Day 2 is in the book. We did campolongo to warm up. Main course is Giau. Followed by Falzarego and Valparola as dessert. Giau is no joke, 29 switchbacks of soul crushing pain but so worth it.
Just add Charles to facebook - lots of pics there!
Day3, today we did the Sella Ronde route. We started with Campolongo again. Then we did Pordoi, Sella and Garden. A bit easier but very scenic. Was going to do a bit more but we decided to save our legs for the giant tomorrow. While riding in corvara, we spotted the Audi experience setup. The RS5 was there.

pics on strava are awesome! feeling tired yet or overnight rest is good enough?
Legs are hurting that's for sure. Spend some time at the spa today so that helped.
Day 4 - Stelvio!
It's definitely iconic for many reasons. I didn't suffer as much as the day we did Giau. Don't know if it's the climb or me in preservation mode. It started on a flattish section that leads into well shaded switchbacks. At about switchback #23 of 48, you see the second sections of switchbacks right in your face. It's a very intimidating climb because of that. You can literally see the top from there.
Today is super chaotic because of holiday. I was in a traffic jam for a bit because some lorry truck got high centered at a switchback. Right after I pulled off the road at the switchback below, a couple dropped their touring bike right in front of me because of the low speed. Those switchbacks are so tight. On our descent on the other side of the Stelvio, while in the tunnel, we could've been smoked by an oncoming tow truck had we not warned by two cyclists in front. Stelvio is just deadly going up and down.
I really have no idea how they did Stelvio twice in one stage at the Giro this year. Those people are not human.
Day 5, we did the torre di fraele in the morning. It's not a difficult climb, well, compare to Giau and Stelvio. It's like a mini easy Stelvio in a way which you can see the switchbacks on the way up. In the afternoon, two of us op'ed to do Motirolo. Well, this one was the most difficult climb I've done so far in my life. 11% average for 11km. If you ask me, I'll tell you that it's more than 11%. My heart was literally blowing up in the middle of the climb. The gradient was like +12% for like 2-3km. It got to around 18%. I was barely keeping myself upright in granny gear. There is nothing much to see there other than the Pantani corner. Pure sufferfest. What an eye opener!
The original plan was to do Mortirolo and Gavia tomorrow. I'm glad that we aren't doing that whewww.

Day 6 - this is our last day of riding, Passo Gavia. Not overlly difficult compared to the others. It's just long like Stelvio. This is a real mountain top finish. You are almost like in the cloud. One second you can see and the next is all white out. I'm really not sure if I can do more. My body is like shutting down. Really good trip. I would recommend any avid cyclists to experience these climbs.

anyone attending this? what can go wrong?
Was thinking about it but I did the Barley Belt Tap Tour in summer when they had buses available. We hit up 5 breweries (Annex, Banded Peak, Village, Cold Garden, Highline) and some people were biking it all (somehow). 3 Breweries would be more doable without being dangerous.
I think instead I'll do a road ride and afterwards end up somewhere with beer.
we can have clip in and trackstand practice after each stop lol
Sobriety Test Trackstands
how was this? looked like a lot of beer was had lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I made it to the third stop and I had to race home before sunset. The group went on to the forth, I'm not sure if they rode home lol.
anyone else having issues with auto stop lately? I only use my iPhone but it’s been brutal lately. Dead stop at a light and didn’t auto pause for 2 minutes today. My ‘home’ segment I averaged ~30 km/hr, yet without auto stop like 24.. gets old
Autostop has never been a friend of mine. My computer and strava average times never match up, but the distance is the exact same. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Figured this was probably a better place then the commuting thread, but we doing a group ride this weekend?
