I learned that Expedia for TD is trash so I ditched their First Class Travel visa for their cash back visa infinite as it works out to be the same in regard to what the FCT was offering in points multipliers for grocery/restaurants and now I get 3% back on gas as well.

I dropped the Scotia Visa Passport and their Scotia gold Amex a few months ago as I get the TD card for free and am just rolling with the Rogers World Elite mastercard for Costco, random purchases and to negate USD FX fee. Decent card for 1.5% cash back and no yearly fee.

Seems like the Rogers Connections card could be a decent card once the Shaw buyout is complete, if you have 2 Rogers services you will get 2% cash back on all purchases and no yearly fee - https://rogersbank.com/legaldocs/en/..._changeinterms

aka if you have Shaw home internet or tv and are on Shaw mobile you'd be applicable. I'll still roll with their World Elite for full USD FX fee negation.

Went from $270 in yearly annual fees between the 2 Scotia cards to $0 yearly fees for 2 good cash back cards.

Expect a further reduction in rewards programs due to this:

Great news for retailers though. Doubt they will pass the card fee savings on to customers.

This will get Suncor 17% more fuel sold at retail and their stock goes down...

it was always going to happen, but I'm going to talk myself into this program. Then I'll grumble when I want to shop online, which is usually. It's going to be so emo.
Paid for the membership today with one transaction. 10x normal instore boost, 20x brand boost, and the annual 20x top up on a $657 purchase. Plus there was a $40 spend and get as well. Be about $190 back on that one. I guess not all of that is only because of the select, but most of it was.

Just looked at flights from Calgary to London return in Sept. Westjet had an all in price $1261.

The RBC redemption schedule for Avion holders is 65,000 points from major gateway to Europe with a MAX ticket price of $1300. But they wanted the 65k points PLUS another $900 or so.

Why? The ticket price with fees is lower than the max ticket price of $1300. What am I missing?

Because ticket price and all in price are not the same things.

There is $900 of fees in that $1300 and the ticket price is only $400.

So book premium economy, which will increase the ticket price, and it will cost the same points and fees.

A month or so ago, we booked through Avion for flights to London. I always found it better to redeem points as $$…we got 2 return flights for about 190k points. The points plus $$ never seemed like that great of a deal.

    Avion.
Had it once where the lady told me because there's a seat sale she move me to first class because that fell under the max coat for the points.

This is the way. I basically use avion to fly upper classes for the same cost as economy.

As long as you can get over the “flying for free” mental concept it’s quite a lucrative program.

Hey, another question about the Triangle Select. It says you get an annual "top up" on your "largest purchase". Is that your most expensive single item, or the largest single transaction? I did actually read the website but I didn't see what it was.
So for instance, if you bought a thousand bucks worth of shit in one transaction, is that 20x ponts on the thousand, which would be something like 20x0.4% = 8% back (on top of whatever you got for that transaction originally.

If it's on a single item, it's a real nothingburger.
Did you figure this out? I haven't been able to.

Talking about Rogers in the cell phone thread reminded me of their Connections credit card - https://www.rogersbank.com/en/rogers_mastercard_details

No fee 2% cash back on all purchases Mastercard, just have to have cell service and another one of their services aka home internet if you have Shaw.

I'd be interested in it if I still had Shaw for home internet and having a cell line on shaw mobile already.

I have their World Elite card already so kinda whatever, .5% less cash back but better for me as slight earn rate on USD purchases to negate the FX fee.

    You got the app?

Its in the "Select" tab under accounts

Looks like its on the purchase total and not a single item according to mine

Just found out my Rogers World Elite no longer has an annual fee (prob hasn't for ABCXYZ amount of time), only checked into it to consider to switch carriers on mobile. The fee used to be waived if you were a Rogers customer. If this info helps one other person then that's a win.
